Back to boring.

Too bad. That angular design was gorgeous.

Maybe they realized they’re trying to lease floorplates, and going with tried and true. I trust their jusgement on that (they’ve filled everything else over there).

But it’s still not clear they’re going with the new look.

I liked the old better too but this isn't that bad, the upper balconies are cool. Looks around 800 feet in height too.

Agreed, I don't think this new one is horrible, but it's worse than the older one

I hope that this lame tower is not built any time soon and eventually will be redesigned. This is the 343 Madison of the HY: a lame, glass box.

Maybe it should be redesigned as a plain, glass blue box. A spiral without the spiral. It’s as much as many of you deserve.

It's really disappointing because that whole block is really lined up with mostly boxes. In my view, the only decent building on that block is the Spiral.

Deloitte Commits to Massive Swath of Prime Manhattan Office Space
The accounting firm’s deal to lease nearly three-quarters of Related’s new tower shows the renewed strength of the ultra high-end office market

This box is an abomination.

Related’s on fire in the Hudson Yards. A pity they had to drop the office tower in the casino proposal. That would be more of a certainty.

From that article:

Quote:
https://www.wsj.com/real-estate/commercial/deloitte-office-hudson-yards-manhattan-4a55d495

Deloitte has committed to move its North American headquarters to Hudson Yards, the sprawling master-planned development on Manhattan’s West Side, according to people familiar with the matter. The firm will occupy 800,000 square feet of the 1.1 million-square-foot tower known as 70 Hudson Yards.

Related Cos. reached an agreement with Deloitte even before the New York developer broke ground on the new office tower, which is expected to begin in June. The more-than-60-floor tower will be the largest ground-up U.S. office development to start construction since the pandemic.
Quote:
New office construction, meanwhile, has been practically non-existent. That lack of new supply has unleashed a scramble among financial services companies, law firms and technology companies for the same trophy assets.
Most of these firms want shiny new towers with specialized climate control systems, plenty of outdoor space and restaurants helmed by Michelin-starred chefs. They prefer to be near train stations or other public transportation.

Related’s 70 Hudson Yards ticks most of these boxes. The building will include a large event space, private dining, a media-podcast studio and “red eye” suites for employees and guests to freshen up after flights. Deloitte, which currently counts Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center as its national office hub, will also have use of an 8,000-square-foot terrace at 70 Hudson Yards.

Related’s ability to lease most of its new tower before it even breaks ground may encourage other developers, such as SL Green Realty and BXP, to push ahead with their proposed new projects despite the challenging backdrop of a global trade war and economic uncertainty.

With most of the space already spoken for, this tower will likely be full by the time it’s built. Developers need to get their office towers going.

So this will be Deloitte Americas HQ. Not surprised.

I had heard a few months back that this would likely be u/c shortly. Hopefully the first of many new office towers.

Anyone know the height? 850 ft. or thereabouts?

The more-than-60-floor tower

If the article is accurate, that’s more than the 40-something previously. But Related hasn’t even filed for the full version of that one yet (as is usually the case in HY where they have to transfer development rights from the railyards). If work is expected to start this summer as planned, we’ll soon find out.

Nice to see. This tower is filler, but that's fine Hudson Yards can use some mid tier filler. Interesting to see them go from Rockefeller Center to the West Side. Could have signed on for one of the big Midtown East projects and stayed more local.

Hudson Yards absolutely needs some 700'-900' filler, but of course we wouldn't complain if we get an unexpected supertall.

Related also does office condos, so that could be a factor.

I often wish I'd never seen a superior alternative, than to see a superior alternative and then have it yanked away for something uninspired and by all measuras inferior.

The previous concept was sex. This new stack of floors is a Jos. A. Bank sport coat.

I for one am excited to see another office tower rise in Hudson Yards, and this one (if this is indeed the final design) looks to be a great addition, and sit directly across from 418 11th Avenue.

https://www.bisnow.com/new-york/news/off...800k-sf-at-new-hudson-yards-tower-129166

Quote:
The 717-foot-tall 70 Hudson Yards, designed by Gensler and Roger Ferris + Partners, would be the fifth office tower in the Far West Side megaproject.

Related's tower is one of just a handful expected to start construction, with BXP, Silverstein and RXR all preparing sites for multibillion-dollar towers. But Related, which signaled last year that it was getting ready to put shovels in the ground at 70 Hudson Yards, is now the first to land a prelease, which is critical to securing financing.

yeah i’m fine with this one — i’m more all about the base anyway given that is down where the rest of us live — and as seen in the renders above this is a good public base that fits in with its neighbors. also, as we know materials quality goes a long way, so we’ll see.

I wonder what the rent is. I think that it’s a huge step down from Rockefeller Center to this area, which consists of a lot of empty building sites and the rather disheveled new park on Hudson Boulevard. It’s one thing to be in the Hudson Yards. It’s another to be on 35th Street, especially coming from Rockefeller Center.

It’s not as if this is the first company to move to the Hudson Yards.
