Main floor on Davie is six retail units. Above that there's a floor of offices. The rooftop patio over the offices is the outdoor space for the childcare, (covered and uncovered) which is in the third floor of the tower and podium. There's some more office, and the 'will they be residential or hotel?' units on the fourth floor. [source - floorplans]

Tell them to build a shopping mall up there.

No but at least some decently sized retail space and not your generic hole in the wall spaces only good for nail salons etc

Well it's taken a couple years, but this one's referral report is on next week's council agenda, which means it should be up at either the October 5th, 12th, or 14th Public Hearing.

For those interested, here's the the link to the report. The biggest complaint, aside from the usual "it's too tall," is that it doesn't speak enough to the identity of the Davie Street Village.

It is odd that with so MANY years of this project in the works they've yet to produce a proper rendering. That said, I've written in my support for it. I live about a block or so away, and this development is desperately needed to breathe new life into the Davie Village which is sinking into a crime ridden slum. I've lived here for over 35 years, and it's never been this bad.

I hope that with this project moving forward it will spur other landowners to sell or redevelop. I'm looking at you Marquis Wine Cellars whose family owns virtually the entire south side of Davie from Thurlow street east to Celebrities. It's time.

Is this still 154.5M to the "top of the decorative roof?"
I guess they would put the height of the building's main roof (i.e. top habitable floor) as the official height on the notice. Sorry, I'm a bit out of date on how these heights work!

It takes 2.5 year to move an inch?

And now it's as abstract as a watercolour painting.

Increase of 0.62 FSR. I assume their delay was around the "hotel" component and COVID like the rest of us - but especially hit downtown.

The community garden at 1157 Burrard is being overturned today, I assume in preparation for the 47-storey condo/office/child care facility. Rezoning was “approved by Council on Oct 19”

What a relief. That was a rat/skunk infested eye sore that no one truly ever took care of.

"...Proposed is a 143 m (469 ft.) tall tower with an
additional 8.2 m (27 ft.) of appurtenances, or
approximately 32 m (105 ft.) beyond the max
anticipated in the West End Community Plan
and 47.6 m (157 ft.) beyond the Queen
Elizabeth view cone..."

So, this would give a TOTAL height of 151.2m (top of appurtenances)
Was this what was approved? If so, maybe change the thread title to reflect it?

Good to see another ~'500 on Burrard

That's taller than One Wall Centre so this will be very visible. While not very special looking, it will greatly add to the Burrard corridor which has a gap around Davie.

How does building a skyscraper solve the crime problems in the neighbourhood exactly? I support this project as well but your reason for supporting it makes no sense.

The person making a legit comment feels that maybe an injection of a new contemporary building may inject some new life, positive life into the area that he/she has been living in the last 35 years and sees that increased criminal activity may be taking their area to a stagnant and maybe dangerous level. Maybe a catalyst for more modern amenities rather that what he/she has been seeing deteriorate over the last 35 years. He/she did say they live in this neighborhood for 35 years and is excited for this new project. Do we need to always question someone's hope or desire for something new and challenge their nice intended comment into a debate???
