Wow... I thought this whole area was geared towards low-income (or lower-ish) housing.

Hard to tell from the render, but I think it'll be located behind the current building that's erected. If that's the case, then that appears to be what's currently under construction.

Here's a larger image I found:

It is a mixed income development. They are building more units than were previously there with at least as many low income units mixed in with market value units.

I think this is where the two condo units will sit:

https://www.google.com/maps/@43.2348...7i16384!8i8192

I might take a walk there after work today out of curiosity. Haven't been there since late last summer.
I use to live a few houses from the corner of Reid and Roxborough Ave up to grade 8, so all of my childhood memories are from this area. It wasn't the safest neighborhood growing up, and I always wanted to see it improve. This will definitely help it. Sad that it took 40 years to start improving though.

Dropped by today on my bike ride.

The erected building has occupants, but from what I can tell - there's probably a bunch of units that are still empty.

I went to the finished parking lot in the back to take a picture of the construction site behind it. Some security guy? (wasn't dressed like it) told me to scram as he stated "this is City of Hamilton property!". I responded "oh, and I'm a taxpayer", to which he repeated himself and I said "so it's public property"... and then he said "it's private property" and he told me to drop the attitude when I asked "so is it public or private property?". :haha
OK, dad... who's probably only 4 or 5 years older than me. I told him to calm down, took a picture and then left slowly to irritate him.

I appreciate the story but really not cool on the "beat the wife" part. You made it sound like it is a normal thing for people like this to do.

Yeah I too could do without the woke comments and prefer to keep this architecture related.

Naw, not normal and not condoning it... he just seemed like that type of guy.
But fair enough, I removed that comment as it can be viewed as insensitive.

And just like that - Roxy Condos is at the CoA. plans indicate that it is not in fact the buildings already under construction, but the ones to the northeast.

Yeah, it would be to the right of the last picture I took.... which is this area here:

Here

The units in the back will have a nice view of the RHVP and escarpment.

looks like the mystery towers already under construction will be affordable housing:

The governments are also investing in the Roxborough Affordable Rentals project located at 16 and 22 Roxanne for women and their children. The below-market rentals will have 352 units, 76 of which will be accessible.

Yeah, I grew up on Reid Ave. and I occasionally ride by there often on my way home - and it's already doing a lot aesthetically for the area.

Does anyone know if the original render of this area is still the intent and the condo shown a few posts up is in ADDITION to that... or is it replacing something in that render?

https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/attach...ed-jpg.352651/

I wonder how many people this will add to the area.

I see some of the townhomes are available for rent. $2,700/month for 1,300 sq. ft. spaces. I guess that's in line with the market, but I thought it would still be a smidge cheaper than that because the greater area is still in need of being built up.

My first serious girlfriend lived on Armstrong. So in my late teens and early-20s I was around the neighbourhood a lot. Late 1980s into 1990s.

It's changed. Even before this new stuff.

I lived on Reid from about '71 to around '82. Other than some homes being torn down and replaced on Reid and on Beland, it doesn't look all that much different than I remembered it. The 3V Dry Cleaners looks to be abandoned now and is rough shape.
