It's a nice addition. I like the green color. Harkens back to a by gone era of design.

It started off as a whole block project and is now half. Also there were glaring code issues on the first design(I recall exterior exit stairs in a high-rise?).

I see. Just crazy how long some of these projects take to breakground

It's been through several iterations - what was proposed back in 2016 IIRC was around 10 stories.

Correct. Here is the first iteration...

Which then changed to the half-block iteration...

To be fair, the design that was ultimately approved didn't include the exterior stairs. That approval is still vested and Killian Pacific could move forward with that design if they wanted to. Those of you who really like tall buildings should be glad that they're not moving forward with that design; it was 148′-6″ tall, and the new proposal is 234'-0" tall.

New tower in the Pearl

Is this building going through yet another change?

Drawings [52 MB] and Staff Report, which recommends approval.

I like the exterior quite a bit. The massing reminds me of the Rodney, half-block tower, set-back from the internal property line, and stepping down to the warehouse height toward the 13th avenue historic district.
The plans still seem to have some technical issues to work out. It's a high rise right? I don't see an enclosed fire service access elevator lobby per OSSC 3007.7.

It's a nice building in concept but I don't think I'll ever come around on the color. Especially in metal panel I think it's going to look flat and cheap.

I hope I'm wrong. Or at least that we can screen it with some similarly sized projects around it

I haven't been a fan of the green metal look since they first revealed it. It reminds me of the older metal bridges that are painted green. But I do understand some people like it and it's uniqueness.
