Being a gay man on the info mailing list for this building... I guess I fit the bill. What is it about the design that makes you say it is male oriented?

OK, random question: How is everyone saying the name of this building? Cyan like the pepper(cayenne) or Cyan like the car(scion)?

it is just little simple things, something when you are in the two show units that you really feel it. Again these are small details, and I don't mean this in any way negative because honestly, being a straight male, I kind of wanted a unit if I had the money.

The issue at hand is space and how to make little space effective. The first noticeable male thing about the place is in the "kitchen," which has more of a modern studio feel that a separated kitchen. The upper cabinets all open upward, while this is a cool feature, and seeing the architect was a tall man, works just fine, but for a average height to shorter woman, this feature would be a problem.

On one side, it would force a woman to really stretch and reach to close the cabinet, but for a shorter woman, it would require her to get help with using the cabinet space.

That is the biggest of things within the two units that I noticed, but go see them. It is mostly in the feeling that I had from them that made them feel more focused to men. Again, I mean that in the most general sense. I liked the units, it is just how it felt to me. Maybe you guys might feel differently about it.

The architect project manager gave a presentation at PSU tonight about the design...

Its a pretty straightforward downtown urban infill building. Basic units start at below 200k? 350 units... which is a lot, especially for only a 17 story building. 5 levels of underground parking. 2 retail spaces on the corners facing 4th ave. 525-700 sq ft, and I want to get into the sales center to get a peek at the interiors.

Gerding Edlen has their proposal for redeveloping the Jasmine Tree Block working its way through the PDC right now. Using basically the same design, although that can change dramatically (ie, they could change it to an office tower, but who knows).

dropped by yesterday, this place is definitely a bachelor pad. In the west unit, the kitchen has almost no storage. The East unit has a pantry, much better.
nice materials, I like the bamboo look cabinets and the build in fridge and freezer. The units are small, but it'll work for a single guy. The receptionist is really cute too. 8)

Cyan Update

Cyan updates as well as quite a few shots of the sales office.

And here are some shots showing the upward motion of the cabinets.

Let me know when you go and I'll come with you. Haha. Like vjoe said, the receptionist is really cute. I've already been twice (to show the UNITS to some friends!), and I need an excuse to go in again.

(Might have been mentioned before in this thread.) By the way, if you go by at night, they project an image up on the windows, and when cars go by, it detects them and sends a checker pattern across the image...so it kind of "follows" the cars. Pretty neat idea, I thought. Maybe a bit over-the-top, but fun anyway.

Those units look pretty cool. Small but definitley have a euro look to them. I haven't been in to the sales office yet but from the outside and the pics of the inside its probably the nicest sales office I've seen.

^ I actually made it in there last Thursday. Yeah, the receptionist is really cute... and... units? There are units?

Just kidding. I thought they were very well laid out, very space efficient, and I would live in either one... I really do need a bachelor pad!

partial pour of first floor occurred Tuesday.

first rebar columns were put in place today. Should rise past the street in the next few weeks.

Excavation on the underground parking is still ongoing.

This thing will be going up fast!

Comparing it to the Ladd Tower... 6 months faster since they don't have to dig a giant hole to China! Must save a lot of money, also.

I think they are still going to dig a hole pretty deep down but we can't see it because they are doing top-down construction like on some of the sowa towers. can anyone confirm this?

on the other side of the site, they are still madly excavating.

Should go at least 5 floors deep. This back side will only have basically townhouses rising up, not the bulk of the tower. Also a park in the southeast corner.
