Jeepers, it's prettttty, but they seriously need to consider painting it a different color. Maybe powder blue or a green? I still just see Big Macs.

I can understand why they would want it yellow. If it was blue or green it wouldn't stand out. It would blend in with the background and not many people would really notice that there was a bridge there at all looking at it from across the river for example. Yellow stands out and is a good contrast. Red could maybe work but it would depend on the shade. All in all I think the finished product is going to be nice.

Preach.

There should be no overhead lines in the urban core. Are we in Bakersfield yet?

Yup, corvairkeith's pics seal the deal as far as color is concerned. That shade of yellow is perfect amidst the deep green. If it weren't for freakin' MacDonalds we'd have probably never had an issue with the color.

Well said. I like the bridge, and I want some fries.

This photo shows just how relatively isolated The Independent will be among the other high rises. It'll have an unobstructed view for 18 blocks - even from the lower floors. The nearest high rise to the north is 21Rio in West Campus.

5th and West will be built before the Independent and obstruct views to the north.

Oh, of course! Totally missed that. Well then, I guess that honor goes to 5th & West then.

I gotta say, while I don't hate it, Seaholm Residences just hasn't sparked my creative interest. I like the color, but the design is so...bland. I wish they'd done something interesting with the roof at least.

I'm looking forward to riding my bike over the bridge. And for the record, I like the color.
