I also found this picture on when I was googling Pinecrest Shopping Centre... I believe it is from wikipedia. Even though the quality isn't the best, you can still see the progress!

So we should hopefully expect a late August opening in time for the back to school (residence in the fall) shoppers? And also in time for the 2012 IKEA catolouge; which I am dying to see because I need some new ideas for my new apartment! (huge ikea fan here!)

Was visiting Ottawa this past weekend and since we don't have an IKEA east of Montreal, I stopped in at the existing location for a few things. I didn't even realize that IKEA had stores that small/crappy. I got in and out as fast as possible.

1/3 of the back of the new Ikea is covered in blue now, and a small portion of the front, possibly near the front door, is also covered in blue!

They're moving at a really fast pace.

I also noticed that in the rear, next to Baxter road, they have built a concrete ramp that enters just off Iris right next to Baxter, goes up to the 2nd floor of Ikea (technically its the 1st real floor, as the floor below is the underground parking) and could possibly be used for the loading bays.

its probably handicap and family parking as well as returns - that's what they use the second upper level of parking for here - the returns is on that level and makes it easier for people to bring back their stuff as it has its own entrance and area - you don't have to deal with the hassle of going up escalators or stairs from the lower level parking

The block-sized Ikea is getting clad in corporate colours.

Probably my last photo of this construction as I will no longer be out at this location.

Some glazing going up. I guess the restaurant is going to have a view of the Queensway — Lingonberry traffic jam with your meatballs, Sven?
