^Medicine Hate lol!

Glad to see hockey is still alive and well with the Hitmen. Does anyone know what kind of attendance they get for their games?

calgary averaged 8600 this season, still tops in the whl and I think 3rd or 4th in the CHL. Total attendance for the entire season was 305k.

http://www.mib.org/~lennier/hockey/leagueatt.cgi

this site tracks all hockey attendance in north america so you can get a good idea of different numbers around different leagues! also goes back a number of years, hitmen attendance during the lockout for example was over 10k a game!

There was about 11,000 or 12,000 at last night's game I think. Lower bowl was sold out, and the second level was three-quarters full on the sides, and quarter full at the ends.

I was at game 5 tonight (6-1 win!), and was very impressed with the atmosphere. I'm sure there were at least 12,000 in attendance, and it was probably as loud as any Flames game I've been to.

I saw Tri-Cities beat the Giants 4-1 tonight. No idea what that series is at, but the Hitmen will play one of them for the WHL title.

Tri-City leads 3-2. Fairly back and forth series too, good one to watch. I think Vancouver may pull ahead and take it in 7.

So it's Calgary vs. Tri-Cities for the WHL crown.

So Tri cities it is. I don't know anything about tri Cities, so this will be interesting. I thin k the Hitmen have a better chance this year than last year. Kelowna was on fire when they went into the playoffs. This year the Hitmen have also faced adversity going into the league final compared to last year when they hadn't lost a game.

It was buried a couple pages down the list. I've merged the two threads together now.

Interesting to note the Tri-City franchise originally began as the 1966 Calgary Buffaloes/Centennials.

It's funny how these franchises move around. I remember the Calgary Wranglers playing the Billings Bighorns. The Wrangler of course are now the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Since the Flames have taken over the Hitmen, they've become one of the best organizations in all of Canadian Junior Hockey.

I see the Hitmen don't play Tri-Cities until Friday. That's a long wait. I hope the long layoff doesn't affect them like it did last year.

Tri Cities finished their series over the w/e too so it's a long lay off for both teams. The schedule is showing as 2-2-1-1-1, that's a lot of miles on the bus!

It should be interesting. The teams only played each other once this season with Calgary winning.

I can't imagine that bus travel...and they aren't allowed to fly anymore. Last year, while playing Kamloops, there was a game in Kamloops one night and Calgary the next night. Not wanting to make the 8 hour bus trip, the Hitmen chartered a plane. The WHL asked them not to as the Blazers couldn't afford it, so the Hitmen flew both teams back to Calgary on the same plane. This year, the WHL has made a rule that you cannot fly to avoid this happening again.

This gap between rich and poor in the WHL is immense. Realistically, the Hitmen could afford to fly to every game, where say Moose Jaw couldn't afford to fly to any games. The Hitmen probably bring in as much money in one game from gate receipts as the Warriors do in 25 games.

I managed to get tickets to the game tonight thanks to my girlfriends father, so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I'm pretty excited to see how the Hitmen do. Last year they lost the first three games to Kelowna, I feel they'll do better this year.

I heard they're expecting 14-15,000 for tonight's game.
