I don't think a few years ago anyone would of guessed our city's tallest building would be going up just metres from the MacDonald Bridge, let alone three of them with two more 27-storey buildings also going up nearby.
What are the two 27 storey buildings? I know the Boston Developments one just north of the bridge, what's the other?

And in that vein, I see that Manga is now touting them as 40 storeys on its website: "Located at 20 Best Street, next to the Halifax Harbour, a 3 tower development with 40 stories and 1350 units that will stand as icons in the Dartmouth skyline."

This. Although I suppose we could wait until the Centre Plan amendments allowing the new density is formalized. I believe that's fast-tracking it's way through Council now.

Manga's been known to play fast and loose with the facts before. I saw a piece in an industry publication a good 2-3 years ago that referred to these towers as "under construction" at that time. All part of the promotion game, I suppose. Or perhaps it was the fault of the reporter...

I wonder if they will stick to 33 floors for all three towers even though they are now permitted up to 40 floors under the HAF amendments.

Manga has been calling them 40 storeys on its website for months now:

"Located at 20 Best Street, next to the Halifax Harbour, a 3 tower development with 40 stories and 1350 units that will stand as icons in the Dartmouth skyline."

Am I understanding this correctly? This development will have 33 floors for 3 towers (roughly 90 storeys of residential) and ~350 residential units, so about four units per storey?

No. It's 348 units per tower.

But that's at 33 floors. Manga itself is saying on its website that they'll be 40 floors and 450 units each.

Ok, thanks. Once all of this is done the before and after imagery on Streetview here is going to be insane.

Manga is shady as fuck. Hotels have suited their investors more. They've ended up cancelling nearly every condo and rental development over the years. However, their newest completion is a mixed use hotel and rental tower so it could be a new direction. Some barriers and earth works means nothing.
