Another major public art project which will be installed in Quebec City next spring: les Attracteurs. This project has been in the making for quite some time. 36 bronze sculptures such as the following will be installed throughout the hip St-Roch neigbourhood and its particularity is that it will be interactive. The sculptures will be equipped with sensors so that it will emit light and sound as a person walks by.

The city was worried that the technology would not resist Quebec City's winter so it tested the one you see here during the last 2 winters and the sculpture resisted the weather quite well.

^ Very cool. Montreal also has some amazing public art, but I had no idea QC had a lot of this funky public art too.

How about an example of private art made accessible to the public? Local coppersmiths were commissioned to produce these famous figures for the community gardens of Hacienda Sarria, Kitchener.

North Battleford is getting a gigantic baseball bat, usurping Edmonton's giant bat that was on 118th Avenue.

When I lived in Edmonton, I always looked at the placement of the bat and thought what a truly random and unspectacular place to have put it. The photo in the article depicts that very well. Some days if you weren't paying attention you might be hard-pressed to not think it was just another streetlamp at the intersection.

Sherbrooke was recently hosting the 9th Global Mural Conference as well as the 1st Symposium Art mural Sherbrooke 2014. The latter was a three-day-long event, during which 10 artists created medium-sized murals (2.5 X 5 m) that will be displayed on King Est street (see here).

I'd read about this - this is great. While this is obviously an important functional economic site, it's always been an eyesore right in the middle of Vancouver, totally sticking out from what Granville Island is today. It's nice that the owners agreed to this, and it will now go all the other way to becoming a new tourist attraction.
