Question

Those are not even in the same county, let alone within the city of Fort Lauderdale...

Downtown Fort Lauderdale To Invest In Trolley Improvements

Quote:
Downtown Fort Lauderdale has a new fuel-efficient and cheaper bus. It's got bigger windows and is boxier -- and it's painted like a trolley.

The older trolley buses in Fort Lauderdale weren't up to date on things like handicap access regulations and fuel-efficiency costs. Fort Lauderdale commissioners should be accepting a federal grant today to pay for the trolley-style buses.

While the outside of the buses have the classic trolley look, officials are wondering if they should stay away from the wooden bench seating, to cater to the business commuters who make up the largest crowd.

Stalled Fort Lauderdale office project set to begin

Quote:
Downtown Fort Lauderdale is about to have its first new office project in six years.

Attorney Jeff Ostrow is slated to begin construction on the 40,000-square-foot One West Las Olas on Wednesday. He hopes the building kick starts additional development at the nearby Las Olas Riverfront complex. Ostrow acquired the project site in 2002 and was delayed by the governmental approval process and last decade’s economic crash.

The building is scheduled to open in summer 2015, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Ostrow’s 40-attorney firm plans to occupy some of the office space. One additional office tenant and an undetermined ground-floor retailer are also expected to move into the building when it is finished.

Over in nearby West Palm Beach. Pretty neat project. Very good quality and density.

Related to break ground on $110M convention center

Quote:

Work is set to begin this month on the new $110 million convention center and hotel in West Palm Beach, developer Related Cos. announced.

Construction was originally scheduled to kick off in January, but delays with permits, designs and meetings with contractors and the community held up the project, Gopal Rajegowda, a vice president for Related, told the Sun-Sentinel.

The site of the 403-room hotel is adjacent to the Palm Beach County Convention Center at 650 Okeechobee Boulevard. The new hotel will feature two ballrooms, eight conference rooms, a 225-seat restaurant, a fitness center and a landscaped pool area with cabanas.

^^^^
These compilations tend to focus on the metros (MSA) along with the actual city. I dont think we should make a thread just for Palm Beach developments because there isn't enough action in W.Palm Beach to warrant one. Given the proximity, I think it should go in this thread. Even though Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach along with Coral Springs are in the same metro, its better to post it in a thread that is somewhat near the proximity to Ft. Lauderdale. IDK, but I think since this is a development forum in my opinion that we should focus on sizable developments nearby as well. The same with the cities within the proximity of Miami. Theres actually a lot going on that would be pretty sizable in most cities.

Sprawling water park planned in Fort Lauderdale

Quote:
An enormous water park is being planned at the former spring training home of the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees in Fort Lauderdale.
Schlitterbahn Waterparks envisions the park and numerous luxury suites on about 64 acres west of I-95 between Commercial Boulevard and Cypress Creek Road. The company, whose name is German for “slippery road,” expects the complex to open by 2017. As planned, the park would be more than twice the size of Rapids Water Park in Riviera Beach.

“Fort Lauderdale has so much to offer,” Gary Henry told the Sun-Sentinel. Henry’s family owns the company. “My goal is for that visitor to stay an extra day or come from a little bit further away.”
The site includes the old Fort Lauderdale Stadium and Lockhart Stadium, where the Fort Lauderdale Strikers professional soccer team plays its home matches.

Wow! I didn't know that. Do you remember old Atlantis Water Park is on Stirling Rd & I-95? This is where they used to be. They closed down in August 1992. Due to Hurricane Andrew. I remember where we went to Atlantis water park for a many times. I loved water park. It was so much fun.

I didn't take any pictures, but it's topped off as in other pictures posted. Most of the exterior work looks to be done. I'll take some photos by this weekend.

Galleria mall in Fort Lauderdale plans billion-dollar investment

Quote:
The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale has unveiled plans to build seven luxury buildings around the mall, creating space for 1,600 residences, 150 hotel rooms and senior living apartments.

“This is an exciting time for The Galleria as we pursue a long-term vision, which will dramatically improve the landscape of the area and impact our ability to further attract the best retail and dining options ,” said Mark Trouba, general manager of The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale.

The planned project is valued at more than a billion dollars, mall executives said. If city approvals go through, construction would begin late in 2015 and be completed in phases over seven years.

New Hotel Building In Fort Lauderdale To House Starwood’s Aloft, Element Brands

Quote:
A 299-room hotel managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts is in the planning stages in Fort Lauderdale.

Miami-based Fedeq Dv002, LLC submitted plans for the property at 299 N Federal Highway, on what was formerly a funeral home.

Two separate Starwood brands would share the same 23-floor building. Element by Westin, an extended stay hotel, would be located on the lower floors. The upper levels is planned to be an Aloft by W Hotels.

Miami’s Sol-Arch is listed as the project architect.
