It's crazy to me to see 34 Norman and the firehall there now. I remember what it was like around there when I went to Fairview School from Kindergarten to grade 2, back in the 80's...

I can't find it now but there is a recent article stating that the large one way streets going through downtown Brantford are going to be rebuilt as two lane roads with wider sidewalks and trees. Though staying one way it shouldn't be hard to change that in the future.

Brantford council to consider pitch for $140-million sports and entertainment centre — a new home for the Bulldogs
Proposed venue would have capacity of more than 5,000 and could become permanent home of the OHL hockey team.

Brantford city council will consider a pitch for a $140-million sport and entertainment centre that could see Hamilton’s former Bulldogs hockey team remain in the city indefinitely.

On Tuesday night, council members will be presented with a detailed financial plan for the new arena, which will see a much larger multi-use venue added to the downtown area.

Nice proposal for new arena complex for downtown Brantford. Will definitely help revitalize a downtown that has suffered for years. Hopefully they think a bit bigger than 5000 seats and don't make the mistake of building too small. London no doubt regrets only building its downtown arena at ~10000 capacity.
