When resources are scarce to implement what we have designed (urban form), the last thing we need to do is go out and design more (3rd st).
Not saying the two can't coexist and whatnot but the amount of talk, study, and design we do around here with little action is pretty ridiculous.
And ... oh yeah, wtf should we trust the DPP to make 3rd st look good when their present domain is concrete ramshackle wasteland?

I didn't see the Central and Camelback project dead this early. I thought Reid woulda gone to council with a staff report in his favor.
