Wow! Is this one coming back to life? Or are we gonna be stuck with another hole here?

I was thinking the same thing. A potential upgrade to a property is not an upgrade if you only remove an active business and level the building and then not actually build anything.

I have the same concerns. The condition of this building has significantly deteriorated in recent years. So much so that, beyond just being an eye-sore for its new neighbors paying premium rent in The Jessup, I could imagine the property poses a structural safety concern to passers-by. Demolition by neglect?

that block of sansom is horrible. Hopefully having two new buildings there will lead to improvement, its one of the worst blocks in center city and is full of dumpsters, trash and grime.

But we have no clue as to whether this is to be the Blue Ivy (or even a hotel) yet?

Can't help but feeling the ol' "demo and run" vibes on this. Hope we get the plan soon.

Not saying I want a whole in the ground or barricades, but it's not like this existing building is any loss...

The building next door (124 S. 11th) that is also coming down is handsome.

Anything short of what was originally proposed would be a let down. That design was a stunner.

Glad the building is coming down but I am skeptical that the hotel is going up after this. This reminds me of the buildings coming down on walnut on what remains a vacant lot just down the street from this. Hope I'm wrong, but we've seen this movie before.

This lot is clear. I've been trying to resize my pic to fit better, but Imgur doesn't seem to want to save my changes.

Now comes the permanent fence around the lot.

^ It will probably look like that for a while, but a rare circumstance where a drab vacant lot is an improvement over the former corner building (IMO).

Good spot for a Moxy Hotel if this Blue Ivy thing falls through.

I wish Philly required the solid plywood fencing for construction sites like NYC has. It's best to partly obscure these eyesores while they sit as empty lots. This one and the old Wendy's site look awful.

I'm just sick of these "developers" being allowed to demolish historical buildings for no effing reason.

How many times will this be allowed to happen? It's crazy.

I'm beginning to think that the business model has nothing to do with the original plan. They buy these sites and demolish as much as possible and then resell for more after they sit for a few years. It happens over and over.
