Laceoflight obviously used the urban perimeter, out of fairness to Okotoks. Actual municipal limits aren't relevant to anything except determining to which town hall address you send your property taxes check.

For example, the City of Bécancour, QC is 4.5 times the size of Paris (in area).

Looking at the urbanized area is what makes the comparisons interesting.

Okotoks' footprint in Paris is crazy! On the Toks map you can easily see the individual streets at that scale... meanwhile the same surface in the heart of Paris contains an insane amount of people and buildings in comparison, and is a pretty big chunk of city. It really shows, through the grey tones for industry/warehouses etc that if you travel on the island from Autoroute 40 to Autoroute 13, to Autoroute 20 to the Champlain Bridge you barely see anything other than warehouses, pharmaceutical company HQ's, big box barf, railway shunting yards etc and then you're off the island and soon faced with the architectural beauty of the Dix/30.

^heheh, where do you think a zillion Anglo Waste-Islanders moved to when the PQ first was elected to govern Quebec? (I am old enough to remember the exodus...every single house on my street went up for sale...every single one!! Even us....we couldn't sell lest we be underwater with the mortgage, so happily, I got to live in Quebec until my mid twenties [and again during my late twenties/early thirties])

Did you know that there are three Canadian provinces that project (partially) below the 45th parallel.

Ontario and Nova Scotia are obvious, but New Brunswick is a little less well known. In NB, it's only the Fundy Isles (Deer, Campobello and Grand Manan) that lie below the 45th, but they still count.

I know some nit pickers are going to say that bits of Quebec lie below the 45th as well, but that's only because the surveyors were drunk and couldn't follow a straight line.
