When the Horns start winning again the stadium will be filled just like it was for the first decade of this century. the question is, will the current coach do it? He seems to know what he's doing so far, so I have my hopes.

That seems kind of underwhelming. Would that plan include the possibility that it could be expanded again to make the stadium a true bowl? If not, then I think that's lame.

Its not as good as I expected. I thought it would have at least connected the east and west seating without the gaps. Keeping it low to preserve the view of downtown is a plus, and it is better than the bleachers.

I agree. It would have been neat to have the east side lower and upper decks continuously wrap around the south side. But, the more I think about it, having gaps may be a blessing.

In addition to obstructing views of downtown, winds generally come from the south during the first half of the season. Can you imagine how hot and stagnant the air would be if the stadium was completely filled in?

I agree, having the openings and still having views of downtown is neat, I like this rendering.

also like that you can still see out of the stadium.
Keeps a sense of "place". Avoids a Generic location.
Anything that prevents it from becoming a Pro ball experience I'm good for.

The seating bowl can't be continuous because you can't install the same slope due to a much smaller footprint on the south side requiring the south end zone to be steeper than everywhere else. I think it looks good and I like the gaps from a facility standpoint. Easy to get people, supplies in and out.

I’m glad they’re trying to achieve a modern look but it seems really out of place compared to the rest of the stadium. From a noise standpoint and giving the team the home crowd advantage, closing in as much of the open spaces to trap the sound is a must. This isn’t the final product but only an idea (per Chris Del Conte), so I hope they can figure out how to enclose the lower deck as much as possible and achieve a cohesive look that is modern at the same time.

There should be some news on the new UT basketball arena coming soon. During an interview with UT Athletic Director, Del Conte, on the Longhorn Network a few days ago, he said they are in talks with the CoA about a collaborative venture that would benefit both UT and the CoA. He said there have been quite a few parties interested in partnering with UT to make this happen. We might know more about these plans in just a few weeks and the start up of this project in short order after that. Looks like they are not going on this alone. He also mentioned lowering concession stand prices and creating a student section that would extend from the 50 yard line to the endzone, to keep all the rowdies in one section during football games. Sounds like he is determined to bring big changes to the University. A new swimming pool for the swim center is also in the works.

That's pretty nice. Better than duplicating the north end which is what I once thought would look good and more complete. Almost makes me wish I liked the Longhorns....no...just kidding...

They don't have the space to duplicate the north end zone which is also why the bowls can't connect. Different slopes.
