News notes from Tempe today:

City council approved the revised development deal for Hayden House last night.

Nothing really new on that front.

Lime, which I believe mostly pulled out of AZ with dockless bikes, is now in the electric scooter game. I've seen several in the wild yesterday and today.

Nice picture. We'll soon see a third crane in that picture--I saw going past there yesterday that the base is in place for the crane for the Hilton Canopy hotel that's part of the Union development.

Tempe still hopping. ISTB-7 is fenced and moving dirt as mentioned earlier. And they are also moving dirt across the street for the Novus projects as well. Gonna be a busy intersection. There's also a zoning sign up for a bunch of townhomes at University/Smith where a trailer park recently closed.

Drove down there the other day. Great to see those empty lots fill up! A little sad to see some of the openness go away, but great progress for the area.

Seriously though...what is going on with The Pier? That tower crane costs a fortune to keep there for the amount of progress they are making.

I'm as curious as you are. Tempe records have listed them as "in review" for a building permit for a year plus. They are making some glacial progress on what appear to be elevator cores, but barely appear to be using the crane at all.

The developer bought the crane. He's pretty much using the site as free storage.

Wow has it been that long since Skyview was proposed? Stick a fork in that one- it's done! Also this would be like the 2nd or 3rd proposal that failed for that corner. Maybe a 4/ 5 story "box" goes up in its place?

Seems like the City of Tempe would have a problem with this. Surely, there has to be some kind of regulation or zoning code against storing construction equipment on a lot that is not zoned for it?

They are making progress on it. I went over there last week and they have a lot of foundation rebar in place ready for concrete.

I did see on a friend's instragram that yesterday there was a fire on his site and it does appear that some of his junk has been removed.

Came across this image yesterday. Shows the overall site plan for the Union Tempe with the Canopy Hilton completed. Please excuse the scaling. The source image was massive.

I do kind of like that the hotel (at least form this angle) is somewhat separated from the other two towers to break up the big superblock.

Hey man not into censorship or anything but can we not use offensive language here? I read this forum at work and the last thing I need to is to get flagged for reading about skyscrapers because the IT group catches a totally unnecessary term like this.
