Since this seems to be popping up on the internet already, I suppose I should go ahead and share it with y'all. Here's my (updated) interactive map of upcoming bicycle infrastructure projects around the City of Atlanta for 2013-2016.

If you've seen this map before, you've already seen the red (improvements) and blue (new infrastructure) projects, which are all those that have project details finalized and are funded for 2013 construction.

New to this map are all the purple segments, which symbolize all those projects planned for 2014-2016 construction/completion. Since these projects are still in the planning stages, the details of these projects are unclear; as such, the exact nature and scope of these improvements are not entirely known.

While the details are still sort of unclear, you may find it useful to have some context for all these wonderful investments! If you have any more info on these new projects, please let me know!

Wish I could overlay with this map but I can't figure out how to find the google map source for this one: http://map.atlantadev.com/

I had to do some massaging of the Google Maps data to add a lot of the dynamic functionality. I'd be happy to get you a link to the KML though. Just send me a PM with your email.

i'm still trying to figure out exactly who they expect to cycle on chestnut between simpson and bankhead.

the route is supposed to be for the AUC kids, but most AUC kids wouldn't go up there if their life depended on it.

Hey, at least Coke is moving 2,000 jobs Downtown.

As someone who used to work Downtown, I honestly think that overall it's in better shape now than it has been in years.

I wouldn't call it a huge miss. I'm sure if they wanted to be downtown, they could've found a place down there. Their desires may not be what yours is as far as location.

Is IS a huge miss if your goal is a vibrant city center. Cox can go build their next tower in Tyrone if they want. That's not the point.

The bottom line is you can't force companies to be somewhere they don't want to be.

I know many here have nothing but disdain for Perimeter Center, but at least Cox didn't build some low-slung spread out campus more commonly found in Peachtree Corners or Alpharetta. And they did donate the old AJC building to the City.

It's all a balancing act. Downtown has a bright future, as do all of our core districts.

I'd like to see that as much as the next person. But think that your phrasing gets right to the issue for companies like Cox. Downtown is not even close to the center of their employee base. For that matter, I don't think downtown is the geographic center population-wise in the Atl metro. Probably not density-wise, though potentially speaking, perhaps. MARTA transit-wise, yes. Geographically speaking wrt 285 and the metro area spatially, yes. Tough decisions for these outfits.

Exactly. I used to work for a company that briefly flirted with the idea of moving from Norcross to Downtown. The pushback from employees was so strong, they did a mapping survey and promised to settle in the geographic center of where everyone lived. They are now on Brown Rd at Sugarloaf Pkwy in North Central Gwinnett.

There are a lot of folks that think the center of gravity for the metro is now at 400 & 285. Not sure if I agree or not, but it is definitely moving north.

Come on dude, read. My point is that Cox is where they want to be...it's not a huge miss for them. It's not any of our companies, its like saying a company that moves or builds in Nashville is a huge miss because they didn't select Downtown Atlanta.
