When I was down the exchange this week on McDermot, pretty sure I noticed the same type of street and landscaping features. With the bumped out sidewalks at the intersections. Maybe I'm wrong. But McDermot isn't included as part of the study area. Possibly have expanded the area further southwards. Or maybe there's a separate plan for the national historic site areas.

they re-did the sidewalk on the south side of james, but its kind of lacking... utility poles still jutting their way out, no ornamental lighting, just a strip of paving stones in the concrete, no trees or planters.. the back lane on elgin is nice, though.

Ya, it say the sidewalk on James was to be done a few years ahead of the full upgrade. Kind of weird.

Any rumblings about what Harvard Developments might be planning with the P&M parking lot? I can't imagine a legit developer like them would be happy with it as is. But if they want to build hotel/condos they better move fast, before True North Square, Sky City, Glasshouse, D Condos etc satisfy that market.

in all seriousness, when you walk by at prime time parking time, the lot is never full. so either way someone is losing money on this or theyre holding out for something better...

Seems my University is moving all of its offices to the Rice building... got this email today:

The University of Winnipeg is integrating its student services to provide a better student experience, in a single location.

On Tuesday, December 8th UWinnipeg’s new “Student Services Centre” will open at 489 Portage Avenue in the Rice Centre. The majority of campus student services will be located on the first two floors of the building, with easy access among the following resources and offices:

That automatically clears a TON of offices from main campus. What are they going to do with all of that space, inside the University, once they move everything? More classrooms?!

I find the old house at that corner, that has been built around/over, somewhat comical. Also a bit sad at the same time..

The block across from it (with the Subway) was renovated not too long ago; if this block is renovated nicely, and the surface lot is replaced by a pedestrian friendly building as part of the MLCC plan--providing it is going to proceed after the election--the four corners should make for a decent streetscape, further promoting Graham as a destination. Either block would enhance the area immensely if a few floors of apartments/condos were added to each.
