Any idea why The One is going so slowly? Pinnacle One will almost certainly beat it to completion as the first supertall, despite starting around 2 years later.

1. It's a more complex build
2. Site restrictions for staging
3. Delays not having permits in place

The One has the worst location for a tower with a density over 20 FSI. Little area for staging plus imposed restrictions. It's a traffic nightmare to get to the site during daylight hours in any case. Now, I can't believe how little it has progress since July. I'm not counting on a floor every 7 to 10 days.

The One won't be topped out until at least 2026 lets be real. We should just do quarterly checks on the progress so we can at least see more progress. The pics in the last couple months all look the same. Be better to spread it out.

I'm most curious about the curtain wall; more than any other project in Toronto. It doesn't look like we will have to wait too long.

I came here to see what "the worker" at The One has been up to this last week.

Until I see more substantial movement on site, I'll try to post only on this projects respective thread, apologies. Though it is rather strange seeing how slow this site has been going.

The One worker has made more progress on the main tower in the last week or so than in the previous 5 months. This actually may have a chance to be completed in the 2020s.

Nah, it's fine. Please continue with the updates. Watching a single worker construct Canada's tallest building is fascinating.

One Yonge's team will surpass The One worker and finish first taking away any chance for The One to be the tallest.

I don't think people quite appreciate or recognize the vast work that goes into the base structure of a tower, let alone a mega tall.

The UG work/foundation and first couple of floors generally take an order of magnitude as much time to work through versus a typical floor plate.

Are you saying this is 600 metres tall!

Foundations were completed a long time ago. It's been nearly half a year since a suspended slab was poured for the main tower. This has been slow.

I'd disagree when compared to other towers of similar complexity/size/constrained site.

I can't think of any supertall that took this long to pour one suspended slab. Foundations particularly those with raft slab take a long time to prepare. Like I said, this tower has been past that stage for a long time. It doesn't have a typical concrete core for the podium levels. The weight is rather being transferred onto massive columns. It's unconventional but, it is hardly anti gravity engineering marvel.

Towers with large podiums and underground parking garages take lots of time to climb vertically because the square footage for the underground parking and 5 to 10 floors of podium may be equivalent to the 50 floors above the podium. This is not the situation here either.

I hope it speeds up as it gets past all this weight transferring and onto a more conventional floor plan. I'm not a purchaser. it really doesn't matter if it takes to 2030. For me, it's all in good fun.

I'm probably wrong and, even if I'm right, it's not impactful with the amount of rebar being used and the concrete suspended slabs holding it all together. Waiting months between super column pours will create a weaker bond between the pours compared to a continuous slip pour or whatever it is called .

Taken hours ago...from the north

4. 160 Front (Toronto): 240m / 787ft
I was in a bit of a rush today, but I took this on the way to running an errand....it's going to be quite a substantial building once it's done:

A few new renders of the One's penthouse floors. I was unaware that there will be 4 4 storey penthouses.
