Even if not entirely hideous, this thing (Complexe Guy Favreau in Montreal) is still yarky, as it sucks the soul out of the street.

Walking on the sidewalk on a cold cloudy day in February next to this thing...

Looks nothing like socialist brutalism. That's just PoMo-lite.

Heads need to be at least twice as big with a red rooster weather vane on each to be contender.

The cock needs to be on the centre head. We could call it Cockzilla.

It's the cheap maximizing floor plate newer office buildings in Ottawa that are pretty awful: https://goo.gl/maps/Xdc7CRpZuDR2

And some of the newer condos: https://goo.gl/maps/wKgMtQyfMv42
Reminds me of DT Calgary's west end.

I wonder if that Scarborough proposal will end up looking like that?

And not just any SEARS!!! The oldest, shittiest SEARS in the city. I remember trying to cut through there on lunch breaks from ACAD on my way to the mall foodcourt. Imagine Dawn of the Dead but with silver hair as far as the eye can see. Every time you try to cut around a pair of old geezers shuffling arm in arm down the middle of the aisle you get stuck behind another pair.

Some sexy shots of Northhill SEARS:

If they could just build a Residences Soleil in the adjacent parking lot it would become old people Mecca.

the silver and blue....depends....pot-pourri...oh look Mildred! It's SEARS DAYS!

Remember the old days when there was an in-store restaurant? Salisbury steak with glazed carrots, instant mashed potatoes with gravy, blueberry cobbler...Senior Paradise.

Hot hamburger, jello salad, hollowed out pumpernickel bread with some sort of thing to dip your food in if you're getting all ethnic and adventurous, apple pie with a triangle of white cheese on it, bottomless cup of coffee served with the meal and all meals eaten before 6 pm and the ambience is complete.

When I worked at SEARS the old people only came there to go to the cafe on the third floor. They would all be gone by mid afternoon for their naps. Only things I ever saw them actually buy in store were batteries and cordless phones with giant numbers. Once the cafe closed the numbers of old people dwindled drastically.
