I don't love the setback here. The original schematics, still up on Astoban's website, did not suggest a setback like this.

Hard to tell from what Cecil posted, but it also looks like it may have shrunk and is not adding as many new floors??

The second small figure (lower left) which shows the N-S cross-section seems to indicate a stepped setback from Walnut consistent with the new rendering?

Not sure. I didn't think it indicated a setback like this but hard for me to tell exactly what's going on from those figures. I imagine Cecil is involved in the project and what he posted is accurate. Looking forward to more news on this one, including information on unit sizes and finishes. Could be a sweet little boutique condo development. I'm potentially interest in buying in this building if it fits my needs, but not enough information to know yet.

He says they are expanding the gift shop and relocating the rest rooms.

“So we’re going to bump the building out, just about 12-15 feet at the southern end of the building, closest to Market Street,” Cuorato explained.

He says visitors have only nice things to say about their bathroom experiences, which are important, if you’ve done any traveling.

“And one of the advantages of bumping the building out, and relocating the restrooms, is that it will give us the ability to build a terrace above the new restrooms, and that will wrap around to our existing terrace, which faces Independence Hall,” Cuorato said.

The upgrade also includes new digital touch-screens for visitors to download information to their smart phones and electronic devices.

Ugh. Why the need for a set back on Walnut Street? It's a wide three lane (including parking) street. A 6 story building isn't going to overwhelm it at all. The new setback looks silly if you ask me.
