We know that the McMaster Student Residence next door is currently moving forward, and Vrancor is already busy with 154 Main St E and 354 King St W, so my guess is that a deal has been made with the city to use the site as temporary parking while the McMaster Student Residence and parking garage are built. Once those are done, King & Caroline will probably follow.

I sense a big parking garage soon. similar to York Blvd. Why can't Hamilton build anything underground? I once heard Bratina say there are underground rivers downtown but I call BS, Toronto has rivers, Montreal has an underground city and they are an island.

Maybe Vranich was able to swap surface parking where he put up 20/22. Although I prefer to think that it serves as a temp measure to offset loss in parking on Mac Grad Residence.

This entire area used to be marshland with rivers forking far into the land. You dig too deep and you're going to be coming up with hay, because compacted hay is what they used to compact the land enough to pour concrete on in order to build.

Aka hamilton is built on shaky foundations.

I don’t remember where, but I thought I heard that what used to be a few rivers were turned into sewers way back when. Does that ring a bell?

I do love that tidbit about the hay foundation, I live for that sort of trivia

Sorry I have my bearings messed up. Is the freshly paved parking lot the future site of the Mac Grad Residence or the Vranich build with the pointed top floor?

True. QC turned this old surface-level parking lot into a good-looking garage+park/plaza

They did a really good job with the design of this - I love the subtle arc on the solid parts on the balconies

Pictures from Tuesday. I agree with whoever said the balcony undersides should be painted - perhaps white on the long balconies (east/west sides) and a grey or dark blue on the short balconies (north/south sides)? Still an excellent tower:
