This site has a lot of lurkers. I’m always refreshing to see if there are any new updates, as I’m sure others must be doing as well. I don’t always respond, even when I like the pictures, because I figure it would disappoint everyone to see a new “bolded” update that only reads “Hey, nice pics!”.

That said, all updates are appreciated. Nobody here is thinking “ughh, great more skyscraper pictures.”

Haha, I'm on the same boat as you! It's always nice coming back to this site seeing a thread bolded because there's a new update. A comment appreciating the pics goes a long way for the uploaders! I make sure people back in SF/SJ know I appreciate their picture updates as well since I'm not there anymore.

I recently started working in downtown Austin so I'll try to make my way around town in the Texas heat for y'all!

Same height as 405 Colorado and has quite a ways to go.

Did we ever figure out what that big piece of concrete is right at the top of the windows in these photos?

It's a transfer beam. Because of the step back at that corner, the two column rows above it are further back from the columns below, so it is picking up the load above and transferring it to the columns below.

Thank you for the clear explanation!

Thank you! and now I notice there are more of these beams in the background.

I will say, the size and orientation of the beams seem unusual. There probably were more efficient means of picking up the load, but they must have needed to keep clear of some kind of mechanical equipment or something.
