I think they're taking a floor, which I believe is how PCM is being marketed, naturally. I think the floors are around 60,000-75,000 SF and Athena could have more than 600 employees working there within 5 years. According to THIS article they will take up to 120,000 SF, but I'm not relying on it as totally accurate. Worst case scenario, they have 600 employees in 120,000 SF, which is a ratio of 1:200, which is less dense than a lot of tech is at below 1:150 or in extreme cases 1:100...There's still a good 280,000 SF left...at the same employment ratio you're talking 1,400 more office employees. ~2,000 presumably youngish tech employees = the highest growing renter pool for infill multifamily, as well as more retail and F&B. Not to go back to Buckhead v Midtown/intown discussion, but it doesn't have this going on!

Question for anyone - if you worked in PCM, would you want to live in PCM? I think I would love living there, but wouldn't want to live where I work, would begin to feel like a prison.

I agree. I think I'd prefer to live either up or down the Beltline somewhere and ride / walk to work. So either Midtown / VaHi area or Inman Park I guess.

I haven't been on Ponce Ave in a year or so, are the buildings on it (near PCM) still set somewhat far back from the street (and the entire lots paved for parking)? That needs to be changed (tho I remember there being some good food there). Also the street itself could go for a road diet and beautification.

Ponce will be getting a road diet and bike lanes along the stretch by Ponce City Market. They were supposed to be done with this by this summer but construction has not begun. But that's how things always seem to work. Announce something and miss the date.

Speaking of bikes, it would be nice if the city would develop a dirt bike trail.

Those would be the interim hiking trails on the undeveloped parts of the Beltline!

Wow, that's quite interesting. I had no idea. Atlanta has a lot of creeks and floodplains that are ripe for trail development, and a lot of community minded neighborhoods, so maybe we see further action to pull these Peachtree Creek trails into a continuous grid. Hell, it would be interesting to walk all the way along that creek one day.

Very true...I know its not in the city core, but if you are in Roswell, or Marietta near the Sandy Springs border, there are a couple of really cool creeks that flow to the Chattahoochee River. Sope Creek, and Victory Creek. They have some really cool biking and hiking trails with picturesque creek views.

No, wait, let's cram this at the south site after all

Tweaked plans for Falcons stadium could leave Friendship Baptist in place (AJC)

Most likely the city playing hardball. I think Reed stating a figure publicly was also intended to apply pressure. From what I've heard 15 mil is extremely generous? So now you have a stated offer of 15 mil, and a plan that will build this mega complex right next to your facility if you reject the offer... I think if I was in that position I'd take the deal.

They're pouring the 21st floor now, so 2 more to go and they'll be working on the "Skyhouse" element of the building. They're also currently digging / drilling the supports for the parking deck so I guess we'll see that go up soon.

If you want the ocean parking lot, then the North site it is.

If you want a mixed parking and park area, then the South site it is.

Lots of demo going on around Collier and Chat

Hey TERMINUS, any idea what's going up around the intersection of Collier and Chattahoochee? They have now demoed a huge warehouse and adjacent lot.

Not sure where you heard that, but it's ridiculous. There will be a bigger park if the north site is chosen, and the Georgia Dome site will be a parking facility either way. The south site just means a stadium crammed between the AUC and Castleberry Hill.

Spanx to relocate HQ to Buckhead Atlanta

Spanx, the $1 billion underwear company based in Atlanta, is relocating its headquarters to Buckhead Atlanta.

Its expanded world headquarters is just one feature. Buckhead Atlanta, a large mixed-use project at Peachtree and Pharr roads that hasn't had an anchor tenant, will also house a flagship Spanx store. Spanx’s headquarters will be on three floors, and the company is getting signage rights. The headquarters will open onto a rooftop garden terrace with additional balconies.

Spanx will lease 84,000 square feet of office space initially, with an option to expand up to 110,000 square feet. The company plans to relocate from the 3344 Peachtree tower to Buckhead Atlanta in November 2014.
