It reminds me a bit of some Sikh temples I've seen in Calgary.

Hmmm... now that you mention that, perhaps what they're building will be religious. Maybe not any of the mainstream religions, but wouldn’t be surprised if they put a giant SCIENTOLOGY sign on the front, just below the orb.

Theoretically the maximum on the Kroeger Scale is 5. That level has only been achieved by Clockzilla, Mecclocky, and of course, by Chad and his awful band.

I'm just waiting for my Costco hotdog.
I agree it doesn't rank on the maximum end of the scale. Clockzilla would be a 6 out of 5.

The bunker house is definitely Chad's brother waiting for a hotdog at Costco. A side by side for comparison and official pseudo-scientific purposes:

BTW there's a movie on Netflix about Nickelback called Hate to Love: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt28490042/

I also recently found out there is a term for Nickelback's style of music: https://www.urbandictionary.com/defi...rm=Butt%20Rock

Quote:
Butt Rock

A style of hard rock & heavy metal music that is watered down both musically and lyrically to garner maximum radio play and mainstream acceptance. Lyrical themes are drawn from a put-on “tough guy / bro” persona, and include being a badass, getting lots of pussy, strippers, partying, and being betrayed or alone. Image wise, butt rock bands typically consist of guys in their mid-30s with spiky hair, Affliction t-shirts, and bad tattoos (usually barbed wire or tribal). The typical fan emulates this fashion style and exhibits what they think are “manly” personality traits, such as frequently drinking energy drinks, driving an unnecessarily large truck, and otherwise overcompensating for an insecurity in their masculinity. They also tend to have a superficial knowledge of metal music, being familiar only with bands that receive regular radio rotation. Examples of butt rock bands include Five Finger Death Punch, Three Days Grace, Buckcherry, Nickelback, Disturbed, and Three Doors Down.
Truth be told I hate Three Days Grace more than Nickelback.

Gigantic Truck (with extra-loud muffler), Oakleys, Beard, Tim Horton's Double-Double, and Nickelback on the radio.
Some of these things, they go together....

Plus the ubiquitous red hypertensive skin tone, semi-literate belligerence, a raspy smoker's voice, truck nuts, "Fuck Trudeau" flags, UFC decal, and a wife who looks like Tamara Lich: A leathery, pinched-mouthed, squinty-eyed visage that bespeaks decades of bitchy resentment and indignation about "socialism" and society's tolerance of others.

I'm guessing these people don't own compact cars (or even an electric vehicle) or drink espresso.

I'm finding that country music is becoming more and more popular in this world that you describe so well.

This video, although over 10 years old, sums it up for me.

I'm amazed at the inroads that country makes with people who I never would have thought would have liked C and W. Next people I know are going to be saying 'you know I kind of like that song that Celine did from the Titanic movie'

This truck seen in Midland on Canada Day parked between the McDonald’s and Tim Hortons is befitting of the holiday and this current discussion. There are more than one of these in the area.

The truck is complete with grass gas and ass sticker.

These people don't realize just how obnoxious they are, and how their displays turn people away from whatever cause of the day they are pushing for/against.

You can hate Trudeau without having those ridiculous and obnoxious flags festooned on your oversized prickup truck.

^ No kidding. When see these offensive Trudeau flags or T-shirts, it says a lot more about them than it does about Trudeau.

Wait, you mean doing this WON'T change people's political views?

This was on Friday, driving through one of those 50 zones in a populated area in cottage country. Maybe the person who bought the golf cart he was delivering was about to tee off for a round of night golf. In a 5 day span I saw all kinds of dickhead pickup drivers in Keswick, Downtown TO, Tiny and Midland.

Of course you would have a problem with my comment. To paraphrase from another comment, this says more about you than it does about me.

Why does it bother you? Ask yourself.

Interesting how country makes inroads into more mainstream music when politics are veering towards conservatism.

A perfect example of this was the "urban cowboy" trend right around the time when Ronald Reagan swept into power in the US.

Trudeau has literally destroyed lives of people that have made him look bad. He makes Trump's first term look like a kitten in this regard. These people are nuts if they aren't among those that have had their lives destroyed. Still, come up with something original than copying MAGA. Anything related to MAGA is poison in Canada.

So much for ugly architecture, etc.

Certain posters are entirely incapable of not acting uglier than any building posted here.

It's in the thread title for a reason. It's been called out over and over again. Nothing changes. Certain bigotry is A-OK.

Feel free to make your own posts. What photo contributions have you made to this thread?

Jesus, people sticking up for the deplorable F*ck-Trudeau crowd.

I actually agree with you that these people are ridiculous, my comment was being sarcastic.

I guess it didn't come through virtually though.

I mean as far as I can tell that's actually a legal pass. A little aggressive, for sure, and likely speeding a good bit, but a double yellow line doesn't actually mean it's illegal to pass. It's only illegal to pass if you can't see far enough ahead, or are on a curve, crest of a hill, or within 30 metres of a bridge, viaduct, or tunnel which obstructs the drivers view. Passing lines in Ontario are *advisory only*.

If a cop had seen that maneuver, likely all they could charge them with is speeding.
