I'm curious as to why urbantoronto has The One at | 338.3m | 94s

But we still have the old height here?

338m isn't approved yet, only 309m is. So until it's approved, SSP is sticking with 309.

Indeed. Building permit is for an 86 storey tower. Urbantoronto is a forum of locals. Heights in their thread titles matter less

But I always find that the forumers and moderators over at UT know what they are talking about. They rarely post heights on mere speculation.

160 taken by ut forumer mburrrrr.

I don't recall seeing a building wrapped in black during construction before.

Why post anything in a database beyond what is in the public record and approved? If it changes it changes.

Riiiight

How much office space does TD need?

Are they abandoning any office space such as in the awesome c. 1990 PoMo TD Canada Trust tower when this tower opens?

That's one good looking building. I've been looking forward to seeing this corner redeveloped for a while, just based on it's location alone.

Don't know. CIBC is moving out of the tower.

TD hasn't had a significant presence there in years. They are consolidating some space in the new tower but still retaining a fair bit in TD Centre.

Well it seems at One Bloor West they are confident they will get the added height. They've updated all of their renders with the additional 6 floors. But they have yet to update the schematics of the structure on the site. If you look you can see they just copied and pasted the model of the six floors below to make the new renders. The units have the same floor plans and furniture. If the market can handle it I see no reason why they won't get the additional height. Maybe they will add it on at the end after Sky Tower tops out like the ESB did with it's spire after Chysler topped out.

It's not speculation. It's a proposed height increase for a building that has already started construction at the approved height. Someone from outside of urbantoronto would not know this and would assume the 338 is a go. The height increase is referenced on the building's page https://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=105731 twice! LOL

The Intercontinental Hotel is looking really shabby. I'm not sure what could be done to update it without it being covered in glass which we don't need anymore of. This could be a fun design challenge for us.

As far as I know the height increase still subject to city approval. The vibes I've gotten so far aren't the most positive for the increase with the council basically saying they won't approve it.

Who are the councilors at Yonge and Bloor? I think Kristen Wong_Tam is on the east side, is it Layton on the west? I don't know why those two are so anti-height along Yonge. They should worry more about the aesthetics then they do on meters. 6 more floors at One Bloor East is not going to add a lot of densityto the area. This units will be large and most likely will be owned by rich empty nesters, or rich couples or singles with no kids. If you're wealthy with a family there are much better options near by. Another 6 floors would probably only add another 24-30 people to the area, and that's being generous.

And Craner, ya I remember as a kid we would drive down Yonge and I always marveled how tall CIBC, The Bay, and Manulife looked as we passed by.

Remember when CIBC, The Bay & Manulife ruled Yonge & Bloor ?
Now they look downright stubby.

here is the Manulife Centre, The CIBC Tower, and the Bay Tower going up all at the same time.

And all three buildings mentioned.

Here are two more of the buildings we spoke about. Some comedian named Marty Putz remained suspended between the two Towers as some sort of stunt.
