·Workers completed installation of 300 glass globes that illuminate Twist by Pierre Gagnaire, the signature restaurant at Mandarin Oriental. Located on the 23rd floor, the globes can already be seen from Las Vegas Boulevard.

·The kitchen in the ARIA Employee Dining Room is now in operation and began serving meals to employees working on-site.

·Artist Maya Lin’s work, Silver River, will be installed above the Registration Desk at ARIA. The 84-foot silver cast of the Colorado River was created from reclaimed silver in the spirit of CityCenter’s commitment to sustainability.

·Interior finishes are being completed in public spaces at ARIA, Vdara and Mandarin Oriental.
Wow everything looks like its coming down to the wire. I can only guess how many things need to be crunched into these two months.

I think it'll be talked about a lot by the first crowd of visitors who enjoy it this holiday. From architecture to art to retail to the casino there will be something about it that will peak a facet of interest and be relayed to others.

No one knows what to expect because it looks so industrial, but all the interiors should be more amazing (and warmer) than people predict.

It looks like a monolith at day time, but I think it will end up looking a lot better at night.

In about three months that entire section of the strip will look a lot nicer.

Who’s To Blame for Faulty Foster Tower?

http://archrecord.construction.com/n...ster_tower.asp

New article on The Harmon construction debacle. It says corrective work could be done in order for the tower to reach 49 stories, it would just be pricey.

Entice Your Appetite at Vdara

http://www.citycenter.com/offers/2009/08_vdara_dining/

New link that provides an overview of dining options at Vdara. Also, a good video of Vdara Executive Chef Martin Heierling (Bellagio; Sensi) discussing the range of food to be offered at the hotel.

Lied Library at UNLV. I like the views on the top floor but it's to much of a hike across campus from where I like to hang out.

Newest guy to Vegas

Hi there everybody,

My name is James I just moved to LV yesterday, I've been a llllllllooooooooonnnnnnngggggggg time reader of your posts for the last few years but I never had a dedicated computer line to join in. In fact it was you guys that gave me the info to weight the pros and cons and to choose where to buy a place in the city and although I'm not exactly happy with my finances being stuck all in CityCenter (dumb move on my part but I only learn my lessons the hard way in life), I am very appreciative to you all for being such a wide range of voices full of knowledge about the topic of skyscrapers and the facets of this city. I may seem a bit off-balanced at times so please do forgive me...I guess that's why I'm moving to Vegas in the first place haha it's where all the freaks go!!

So to thank you all, I went out from the hotel today to grab some pictures and I hope to do lots more in the future from rare places and angles as I learn more about my new hometown.

Oct 11th in Vegas

Here is a comparison of my last trip to vegas and my current one. Personally I prefer the first picture...and I just can't seem to figure out why hmmmm.

These trees hopefully will mean that CC will not just use the 'usual' palm trees of the rest of the strip. Those are mid-west trees and everybody loves the mid-west/mountains!!

This is on the new Harmon Ave facing due East:

And facing due West where it will have 3 lanes on each side:

Here's from the Harley Parking Lot to show how the space from different angles.

What is up with Veer north end not having the smaller dividers (3 per floor, 4 per penthouse)???

Cosmo is looking awesome (wish I bought in there instead of PCC due to several unique reasons) and I wonder what the pool will actually look like since everything else has changed on the project. Also I do see the irony in fact of the street directly across from a 11B project is one of the dirtiest in the city right now because elsewhere at least workers do clean up all the cards only to have them thrown again--(somebody will have to explain to me how the financial calculations work on that grand of a scale.)

I've studied the models of the final product, and now I've walked up and down the streets...but I still don't see how the hell this Harmon crossing is going to make traffic go faster. I know that the extra lanes will be great but overall I think the amount of extra traffic coming thru here will make this a permanent traffic jam spot as if the strip wasn't already enough of a gridlock. More lights always equals more confusion and I've travelled around the world and never seen so many street lights within 100m of each other.

7 freakin' street lights on one pole??? I've never seen that before...

Last but not least is a picture that hopefully your intelligent minds can analyze to answer some questions because I don't know anything about fire/water fountains:

I'll see ya later X-5 492 out

damn you're fast

Hey Mac,

I knew that you were flippin' fast but damn dude--you beat my expectations in only 15 minutes haha. You probably already looked and saw the car driving down the wrong way on LV Blvd the 2nd picture too damn!! If you can, please e-mail my account to tell me how to get flickr to allow the original size prints instead of them cropping them to only large size. Thanks X-5

Message sent, check your private messages. Didn't realize the car going the wrong way until you mentioned it..

I'm checking out your other photos. The CC Marquee is not what I expected...

Nice pictures!

Yeah the situation of the street level with the strip is downright nuts. When I go to school everyday I take Desert Inn because it totally bypasses the strip. The double-decker buses helped, but we really need another method of transit. Unfortunately the monorail was set up for failure...

There's no question in my mind that this area of The Strip will be gridlocked more or less 24/7/365. Thankfully though, once Harmon is finished with its rebuilding, it will be much, MUCH easier to access Planet Hollywood's garage and valet! And thankfully the pedestrian experience will improve greatly very soon as well, for it's a nightmare along the strip for these couple of blocks right now!

Okay I'll admit the canoes look better with landscaping in place.
