Probably sell the site to a private developer. Would love to see it stay as some sort of cultural amenity though.

I agree. It would be a perfect place for a new art gallery, and the current building could fairly easily be reclad and retrofitted into one.

Seriously? I find him ham fisted and about as subtle as a heart attack. The fact that he continues to get a rise out of people, leaves me gobsmacked. The only reason why I reply is to troll him back not because his comments have got my goat.


It's a shame because he is capable of adding value and one can find the occasional nugget from him, you just have to read a ton of crappy repetitive posts to find it.

I'm all for going against the hive mind and offering a contrarian view, but his schtick has long past its best before date.

My intent has always been to push the bounds, not to disrupt and annoy as much as to get people thinking. There is too much A vs B on the forum, whereas all the answers have subtleties and need contextualizing.

And while I enjoy rubbing the morons (don't read that the wrong way please) that is more of a side effect than the primary intent.

STUNNING! The more details that we see of this project, the more impressed I am. This really will be a jewel in the East Village.

I was in Seattle a couple of weeks ago and had a chance to walk through the central library there (something I do every time I am in Seattle). I always find some new detail that impresses me. It's neat to see tour groups being guided through the space and the wide variety of people who use the library. The Seattle Central library is a beautiful space bathed in natural light. The one thing I think that it lacks is a clear flow. It's very much like a maze. When you finally reach the top level you have to navigate your way out and unfortunately the best way to get our is by taking the elevator from the top level to the bottom.

It would appear that the New Central Library will have a much better flow by virtue of having the open atrium in the centre and the descending stairwells on either side. It would be nice if they went ahead and planted mature trees that will thrive when they landscape. Part of what makes the area look so nice is the landscaping.
