I *love* that a tower is being added to an existing tower complex. Now if only this would happen in the West End...

The proposal for this 41,770 SF Brentwood town centre site, by Monark, was originally submitted back in September 2015 and calls for a 23-storey condo tower, that includes:
◾160 units, including 4 townhouses
◾59 one-bedrooms, 80 two-bedrooms and 21 3-bedrooms
◾underground and structured parking
◾total density of 3.6 FAR
◾176 parking spaces
Good to see a decent amount of family-friendly units in this tower. It would be nice to see 3-bed units up to 30% of the unit mix, though.

I could have sworn that Bentall/BCIMC was proposing a rental tower on the northeast corner of that site (on the parking lot bordering Grange & McMurray), but I guess I was mistaken. Has the site with the existing Parkview Towers changed hands recently? Has it been consolidated into Townline's site?

Or is it be possible that we could see another tower on that block?

EDIT - I'm looking through the proposal. I must have invented the other development in my head or something. The NE parking lot will be rental THs. Sorry if I confused anyone, but the proposal remains as indicated.

Also from the April 25 city council meeting:

There have been some changes to the final two SoLo District towers. Looks like both towers will be a bit taller than originally proposed. Phase 3, which is the SW tower, has been bumped up by three storeys, to 42 fl. Phase 4, the SE tower, has been given an extra by five storeys, to 48 fl. There has also been a slight increase in commercial space, to make room for a fitness centre.

The towers were originally supposed to be called "Cirrus" and "Aerius", but I could see that changing now. The final towers are apparently being redesigned somewhat, meaning they won't look as much like the first tower, Stratus.

https://eagenda.burnaby.ca/sirepub/c...6053236688.pdf (starts at p.165)

EDIT - Okay, looks like this was already posted to the SoLo thread. I'm a little behind today - my bad!

This is why some of us are moving there. The future (of tall towers) lives in Burnaby.

At Metrotown library on a weekday from 12:30 to 1:30 - I wonder how many people will be able to make it.

Of course it's during work hours. It's like they don't want anyone to show up

Not everyone works 9-5. The worst thing about SFU City Program to me is that almost all of its stuff is actually during hours I have to work (i.e. after 6pm). I basically can't be involved at all.

Congrats! We're expecting A LOT of pictures of all the construction going on in the area. There is no way you're getting out of this!

What does this program offer? Do they offer free courses on Urban Analytics?

Hmmm not so long ago...

Another drawback is also how full Skytrain is during the rush hour. Also moving to Burnaby is a big obstacle that I don't think I will be able to overcome.

Haha, I knew this would be the trade-off, but still went with the decision!

Yeah, it will be an easy decision for you once I have first made it a cool place to live.

Yeah, one year can change quite a bit. A year ago I was still employed in Downtown, but now I am in Burnaby. Also the suite that we ended up finding there is nothing like we saw during our rental hunt last spring (and you have seen many of those in here).

It is truly on its own level compared to what we could have found or afforded in Downtown. Just wait.

I know I can count on you for that, but seriously, once the big projects are more or less completed, the city will shine, literally.
