I have to say, as it ssssssllllllllooooooooowwwwwwwwwwlllllllyyyyyyyy comes together, I'm not finding it as ugly as it seemed it was going to be. Or maybe I'm just getting used to it.

I still don't get the brown brick though.

Maybe it's a good PR move. I mean, by the time it's finished people will have been so sick of looking at it as a construction site that it will just have to look good. Not to mention by that time Westwood's abomination on the Doyle Block will be there for comparison...

So I was beginning to warm up to this one ever so slightly, or maybe just accepting it, but this THIS HAPPENED.........WTF
It is a cover for a 1 foot tall vent that was put in the middle of the sidewalk.

Is that actually installed there, or did that truck just deliver it to the site? I mean, it appears to be in front of a set of entry doors. The thing itself looks like it was done as a project at a NSCC shop class.

Installed on site. They've been working on it for about a week or two now. There're two of them.

I honestly don't know why they thought the huts were needed; the vents were pretty unobtrusive (and would have made a reasonable place to sit if you didn't mind garage air being blown past you...)

They could have easily poured a concrete wall around the vent and provided a bunch or something of the sort, but this is just completely unacceptable. It's more offensive than the lighthouses?!

Do these developers have any clue what they are doing? I thought this was a Fares project? Normally he does not end up with such a sh**show as this thing. It has been sheer ineptitude from day one.

ETA: It just hit me -- I agree with @terrynorthend that this is the "public art" component of the project. No doubt inspired by this literary effort by a fine Nova Scotian author:

Better or worse than The Trillium saltshakers? I am not an art critic so I am obviously unqualified to judge... but seems appropriate given the sh**show this project turned into.
