Aw man. More snow, snow, snow in Burnaby. Some 20cm has fell in the last 24 hours. The total snowfall in last two weeks must be close to some 50cm already. VERY unusual.

Sounds like the morning commute is a shitshow. I thought this was supposed to have turned to rain?!

Seems like only part of Metro Vancouver got dumped on this morning. Everything north of 41st in Vancouver apparently got hit hard. I wouldn't know first hand though - my car didn't make it up there for me to find out.

That sounded like a Trump tweet. I live by Deer Lake up the hill and there's about 35cm here. Probably more snow at your place as you live 280 metres above sea level.

Anything with a slope and bridges were trouser-filling, that's for sure.

It took me an hour to get to where it normally takes 10 minutes. I went from lougheed town centre to highway 1 at kensington on ramp. I avoided gaglardi as i heard it was bad. Lougheed highway was ok until holdom where i tirned back to kensington. on the highway it wasnt too bad. On ramp was deep slushy snow and ice. A tractor trailer truck was stuck on the side of the onramp. The willingdon exits were backed up. Grandview was exit was barely moving. Once i got passed that it was smooth sailing to the ferry. West van was sunny and highway was great.

Snow on ground at my place (near Coquitlam Centre):
Sunday 5pm: 20cm
Sunday 11pm: 23cm
Monday 9am: 23cm
Monday 2pm: 20cm

Officially, Vancouver have 19.8cm of snow and just 2 days with >2cm on ground so far this December, measured at the airport.

I must be out-of-touch with the youth lingo of the day. What does Trump tweet mean in this context?

Back on the topic of weather, Burnaby dropped the ball again today. Almost all buses got stuck at the bottom Willingdon again and no cars could get by for almost two hours. This was the fourth winter storm already and still Burnaby fails to plow and salt roads before morning commute?

I came in from white rock (which had basically all its snow melted) late morning and oak was fine until 49th when it became a bit slushy then right at 41st it turned to a shit show! It was a parking lot, slowly moving. I finally turned off king Edward. I left shortly after going south on cambie. At cambie and marine no snow whatsoever. All melted. So weird

Happy New Year!
It is currently snowing heavily at Burnaby. As far as I can remember, this is the first white New Year's Eve in the last few decades.
I wonder how the weather would impact the New Year's Eve festival at downtown. How does firework display look like in a snowy weather?

its crazy out here in Coquitlam, been snowing heavy all day and got heavier this evening. Cars are stuck on the roads on the hills, backups starting to happen, avoid driving is my advice

1st video shows lougheed around blue mountain - north road - warning its kinda loud might want to turn it down

Man, what a shitty winter in Metro-Van.

Definitely a repeat of 2008.

It still amazes me that yet again Metro-Van is just cool enough to get another snowstorm, but Victoria is just mild enough for it to be rain again.

Meanwhile, in New Zealand...

Early summer started off like spring; changeable, sun and clouds, not hot, cool nights. Last night a strong wind began blowing for about three hours, and today it's warm and sunny like a summer day in Vancouver. Don't know how long it will last. The huge cyclones that race around the Southern Ocean have a "yo-yo" effect on the climate in the Southern Hemisphere, it seems.

Total snowfall on Mount Seymour already broke 6 meters few days ago. That's insane in December!!

Sounds like I should prepare myself for snow when back home on Monday.

Around negative double digit lows incoming for....a long time. I expect the snow won't be going anywhere.

Snowfall creates winter wonderland, wreaks havoc across Lower Mainland

Quote:
NYE celebrations hampered by snow

New Year’s Eve celebrations at downtown Vancouver ‘s Canada Place were hampered by the snowfall, according to officials.

VPD officer Const. Brian Montague said around 10,000 to 15,000 people attended the fireworks celebrations, a much smaller number than the 80,000 people that came out last year.

“I think we likely would have seen more people if the weather would have been better,” he said Saturday night.
Too bad. Mother Nature didn't cooperate
