Whenever someone sees a site plan and wonders how a building could possibly have almost as much sq ft for parking as it does for the rest of the building....just point them to this picture...

The power wash was a major improvement to the Hobby Building. I wonder what prompted it? And I must say ZaZa looks pretty imposing.

If the interiors are as cool as the exterior, this will be my favorite building in Austin for a long time.

ATX is correct, it is imposing. My favorite vantage point is 3rd and San Antonio.

I plan to be a regular at the bar.

My bad G. You are most certainly correct . Glad to have you back and my belated condolences, sir.

I look forward to a round of cocktails at the zaza lounge. Cheers.

I like the tapered balconies on this one. It gives the building's facade some dimension.

The brick for ZaZa stands out nicely on the Independent webcam.

Man, info on ZaZa is incredibly sparse. The only coverage I could find in the last couple of years is from Austin 360 -- looks like they have a new corporate F&B director who'll be based here in Austin.

But seriously, not even an Austin ZaZa landing page at this point. That's nuts if you have any intention whatsoever of prebooking your hotel prior to opening.

Not to mention pre-leasing the apartments in this building as well...

You know, I wish I could switch the Hotel ZaZa and 5th & Brazos Tower locations. I'd love to see this beautiful brick facade loom over 6th Street, and it would be a nod to the old buildings on 6th. We'd also get to see the courtyard on the north side, which could actually face 6th Street. I think that would be neat.

Also, I notice they've left that flag up there. I thought it was just for the topping out ceremony, but I also remember this was supposed to have 4 flagpoles running across the top of the east side mechanical penthouse. In some of the other renders and elevations, the flagpoles weren't shown. Based on the angle here, it looks like they're planning on including them. The elevations showed the flagpoles as being 29 feet 9 inches, so 330 feet to the top of them. I believe that would make them the highest flags in the city. If they follow flag protocol when leaving the flags up all night, they'll probably light them.

True, though I think that the area around the newly-redone republic square park will be extremely nice after everything is developed around there, and this building certainly helps more than that will. Around where 5th and brazos is, The brick of zaza would be fairly well-hidden save for certain angles.

Man, I hope so. I'd love for them to have some lit up flags. I hope they're pretty big and visible.
