Herndon phase 1 with a grocery store could be a huge asset to the surrounding areas and gain some traction of appropriate development along northside and near north ave.

Also really happy to see the Mark moving forward. While I wish the area was a little less college, I really enjoy the increased street presence as of late with all the new developments.

Star Metals Moving Forward

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...ar-metals.html

Quote:
A Dutch co-working company is expected to kickoff construction on the $120 million office component of the Star Metals redevelopment in West Midtown.

Spaces, the co-working brand of Luxembourg-based IWG plc, is said to be in discussions to lease about 50,000 square feet in the 12-story mixed-use redevelopment, sources said.

Spaces is one of several prospects, including a company seeking a corporate headquarters site and a Fortune 500 software firm, said to be interested in Star Metals. Allen Morris is in active discussions with office prospects that could take more than 180,000 square feet at Star Metals.

The more than 200,000 square foot office development, designed to look like a stack of books, is the kind of eye-catching development that co-working spaces and tech firms gravitate to.

The building will include about 185,000 of office space and about 30,000 of retail. Construction is expected to begin in the third quarter, with completion scheduled for Q2, 2020.
Place let it be a small grocer filling up the retail space.

FYI - The Star Metals story is not what I was referencing with my post yesterday. If the story doesn't post today at the ABC, I will break the news here. The story came from my sources. So stay tuned because it is potentially a massive win for Atlanta!

Yes, I am impressed with the Post Centennial project as well. I really like the variation in materials & architectural styles and the fact that the building has various setbacks from the street so the building does not look like some monolithic slab of balconies and windows as with some other projects.

It almost looks as if the buildings were built over a span of many years rather than as on single project.

I would like to see more of this alternation within in a single project - when appropriate & in the right place though.

Lilli

Here is another really nice image of Lilli from a street angle from user smArTaLlone
The image contrasts the new with the old.

Walking to Publix this morning, it looks like they were drilling for soil samples on W. Peachtree between 7th and 8th (near the Daiquiri Factory / the gold place and cleaners are). I wonder if anything is going to become of that corner?

On the other hand, there was a ton of activity surrounding utilities. Telecommunication trucks, people marking the sidewalks, Cypress closed, etc. so it may have something to do with that.

They were definitely doing boring samples on that same site yesterday morning as well....it's not just a utility work since it wasn't within the ROW - it was in the middle of the property.

It's definitely soil testing.

I agree. My only minor issue is the visibility of the AC units on the roof. Hope they obstruct those somehow....as you can see from the street just a block away.

100% Agree! They did it with NRC (since painted), developers don't need to cheap-out on details like that.

lilli is elegant until it reaches the top, then it's kind of a mess. I love the building overall, but.....damn.
