There may be NO Professional or College Teams that are able to play even remotely full season schedules for the next TWO YEARS, or at least until a vaccine is found and distributed to everyone in the Country. Contact Sports is probably the most effective way to spread Covid than anything. Until then, there is NO WAY this Pandemic is going away. It MIGHT ease up a little before Fall, in SOME STATES, but it will come roaring back, deadlier than ever, around October or November. The history of the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1917-1918 shows us that!
The actual interview seems to be _much_ more positive:

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ia-peter-king/

"It’s clear he thinks the NFL has time on its side. Not just because he sees the virus waning by Labor Day, certainly, but because of other factors that are calendar-friendly. One: The availability of tests should make massive testing by August and September easier. Two: We should be far more prepared to handle the disease as it loosens its grip on society, even with the prospect of a second wave hitting later in the fall. Three: Increased Antogen testing might increase the prospect that a significant segment of society—including, presumably, football players—could be made immune to the virus by plasma donations."

I know this is teetering on topic with the stadium, but I really use SSP as an escape from all COVID related news as much as it's possible.... Can we discuss the fallout of this virus in another thread?

I've noticed a few threads go down the rabbit hole, which has left me drifting from the site all together. I know it kinda relates, but I'd rather not speculate on this thing here. There are SO many different trajectories I hear from each friend or family member that all seem to be backed with such confidence. I hope everyone is well and doing what they need to be doing. Maybe someday we can all see a game together....I'll buy the first round.

I agree! Move the covid stuff to another thread. It’s exhausting, the development forum is supposed to be my escape.

The historic parallel is a stretch.

The ONLY meaningful difference is that the people who died in the Spanish Flu Pandemic were primarily younger people. BFD. A dead person is a dead person! Would you like to guarantee me that the results of a 103,000 packed football stadium would be any different than a September 28, 1918 Freedom Fund Parade in Philadelphia? After all, it's the YOUNGER people who really don't give a damn if they spread it to compromised people, resulting in their deaths! So yes, there is ONE more difference. The people back in those days did NOT spread it on purpose, nor did they have "Spanish Flu Parties"!

Dude, I say this with kindness....This is a forum about architecture. Take it elsewhere.

That’s fine for general talk but it should be acceptable to discus in this thread how covid will affect the opening of the austin FC stadium.

Not gonna lie, Columbus somehow (seemingly) ended up with a cooler stadium than us: https://twitter.com/CrewStadium/stat...06195112521729

Eh, to each their own. I like the parkland/trails around ours, yet being a lot closer to brewery and other options.

What jumps out at you?

I like the angular canopy — it’s going to have a distinctive profile, which IMO is what any stadium deserves. It should stand out, be remarkable. But other than that, it looks like we’ve got comparable amenities.

Oh, I guess ours could’ve been downtown... that’s what REALLY jumps out at me.

I just like their canopy and style better. But it's true that they seem comparable amenity-wise. I'm okay with the location of ours.

I think the combination of Columbus' public financing and the unique "folded" look of Austin's stadium gives us the upper hand, but Columbus definitely has a better location.

I think several MLS stadiums have done the angular look by now, Houston for one, but I can't think of anything similar to the curved shape of Austin's. Our canopy is a lot larger, too.

I'm actually not a massive fan of the arena district in Columbus. It's a bunch of shitty chains for the most part.

It's near downtown which is nice and the short north which is great.

Ours is next to a mall and discount tire. Hopefully that part of town fills out and we get cool bars and less strip malls next to the stadium in time.

Thanks for sharing! Out of curiosity, do you know what time of day this was? Trying to get a feel for the shade on the various sections of the stands

The flight was around 4:55 pm. They are currently doing a lot of work adding the roofing to the stands. Next time he flies the drone I will post another update. We are curious as to how much the late afternoon/early evening sun will shine on the east sections (of course depending on the time of year). Cheers.
