No it is not common. This is an old law that the city council still has not changed even after the city has grown this much. It has caused a lot of problems for the city as groups like "Save Austin Now" have really put some radical ideas on the ballot. I am still mad at these groups for their lies on how Austin was helping the homeless. The proposition against the Homeless set Austin back years. It has no plan to help the homeless. All it did was kick them out of their homes and into the woods where there was a bigger wildfire threat.

Would have been a great spot for a baseball stadium. Home plate on the southeast corner of the lot, old Frosty prominent past the Left-Center outfield wall.

Round Rock Express' lease at Dell Diamond ends in 2038. Let's save some room here.

Exactly. Then, I imagine they will install caissons to support the building above - prior to laying the foundation.

It is still a big hole in the city. Looks like there is some minor wall type work. I thought I got a closer picture with my drone but I guess not. Sorry.

I wish they would integrate that crossing bridge from Fairmont a bit more. In the renderings of the new CC is just seems to be an awkward endpoint.

There are no elevations online that I can find. The approved & released site plan is only for demo/site prep/excavation. So I know the pit is 53 feet deep, and that's it.

Tower crane base spotted, and the project is going vertical.
