I don't know if I ever posted these here. This view looks a little different now, but this was Toronto, and Mississauga, 6 years ago:

Probably due to the extreme foreshortening from the lens. It’s compacting kms worth of buildings into a jumbled mass.

Big Italy, Ottawa. More commonly referred to as Dow's Lake Skyline. Kind of a different angle here. From urbottawa on Skyrise.

A bit grainy, but I enjoyed this uncommon perspective of Winnipeg courtesy of Anthony Urso on instagram.

Don't think I could have guessed that was Winnipeg. Uncommon perspective indeed. Thanks for posting!

One of those homes it looks like just enough space to open the door to the garage from the back of the house.

These winter blue sky days don't usually last too long in Vancouver. Took the opportunity to test out a new camera lens.

I could mistake that Winnipeg photo for Vaughan, Ont with the large rail yard.

Great Montreal development overview with the first skyline pano.

This are are one of two things:

1. historic homes which originally did not have a garage and now does.

2. Infill homes that increased FAR and wanted a large double garage at the expense of the backyard due to required setbacks from heritage homes/block face and that fact that most leave their yard given that they are literally steps from the river valley.

Interesting to see. Is Ottawa the only city that lost the vast majority of its rail infrastructure?

When LeBreton was expropriated, rail yards moved to Industrial (across the tracks from VIA Rail on Tremblay) and Walkley (south end of the city at the time). Around the same time, Downtown Union Station was closed and moved to Tremblay.

I think the rail yards on Industrial were decommissioned in the late 90s or early 2000s before they became the big box store behemoth Train Yards. Around the same time, VIA lost about half its tracks to office buildings.

All we have left in terms of freight yards is Walkley, which is partially used up by OC Transpo as the O-Train Line 2 Yards (new City owned yards in the area u/c for Stage 2, repalcing what we're renting from CP).
