I'm thinking the photographer (Vladimir Kostka) might have been on a BC Ferry when he took that shot. Which means that exact alignment of Mount Baker, downtown Vancouver, Lighthouse Park and the island with the house would have been possible for just a second or so. And to have the natural light the way it was just at that moment... awesome.

Any way you cut it, you really have to give it to Vancouver. For all its flaws, recent and ancient, its quite the city. I had the pleasure of living there for a year and it really was quite the treat. Its fantastic.

That new casino doesn't look too bad from those photos. It looks dated because it's one face of mirrored dark red glass, but it's striking enough.

I'd agree with the above..Vancouver overall has grown to be quite the city.

I really like the skyline from this angle! We definitely need some new towers though to fill in the holes and break the table top effect.

It also represents billions in economic activity. Don't expect that to change any time soon. If anything - waaaay down the road, you might see something like New York's Hudson Yards development, where they built towers over the rail yards, but even that is a long shot.
