Cool - nice to see more twinning of the TCH.
It would be nice to finish of that last little stretch in eastern Manitoba to tie into this.

Then all the prairie provinces can finally start removing the traffic lights on TCH. * cough cough Strathmore, Medicine Hat (and surrounding), Moose Jaw, Virden, Portage La Prairie (1/16), Elie, Headingley and Deacons Corner *

With Regina By-Pass completing soon, Saskatchewan will be the only Province with completely twinned TCH & traffic-light-free from one end of province to the other.

AND other than approximately 2 KM at the Quebec border NB has had a divided highway for a while. The last traffic light I know of was near the Moncton Airport exit was eliminated when Frank McKenna was premier, though there may have been more.

That section at the NB/Quebec Border has been twinned so the entire 515 km to the Nova Scotia border is twinned or a newly constructed divided highway for several years now.

I guess you could say the TCH spur from Aulac, NB to the Confederation Bridge to PEI is still 2-lane but so are sections of the Yellowhead Highway TCH16 in Saskatchewan.

You are correct, The highway 16 portion of the TCH (a little over 50 KM or so) from KM marker 513 at Aulac to PEI is not twinned. Living on PEI and growing up in Moncton, I believe most people call TCH 16 , either highway 16 or the road to the Island. Islanders call 16 the road to Moncton/NS . it would be nice to have this portion twinned, however, I do not see them twining this part of the TCH In my lifetime. (I am 53).

IF they did twin a NB highway from the PEI bridge to Moncton, I would guess that they would twin NB TCH 16 from the bridge to the Rotary in Port Elgin NB, and twin NB highway 15 from Port Elgin to an existing 38 km of divided highway Shediac. here is much more traffic/ population this way. Realistically, I also do not see this happening for a while. as I do not think the AADT warrants this.

There is no reason to twin either NB 15 or NB 16 to PEI - after all, the Confederation Bridge itself is two lane and there are no divided limited access highways on PEI at all.

NB 15 could be divided as far as Cap Pele (about 1/3rd the distance to PEI from Moncton), since Cap Pele is firmly within Moncton's commuter watershed and can be quite busy. This portion of route 15 also would be very easy to divide as all the overpasses are already installed, and were built double width to allow for eventual twinning.

I would go as far as to state that given the ease at which this project could proceed, this should be the next priority of the provincial government after completion of the twinning of NB 11 to Bouctouche.

totally agree with above post. It was much better than mine, I drive NB highway 16 12 -15 times a year. Rarely do I say to myself this should be twinned. My point was IF they decided to twin a Highway from Confederation bridge into NB this would be my preferred route IMHO. Personally, I thought they should have twinned NB 15 to Cap Pele, prior to heading north on NB 11.

Oops I mean the lower speed limit in Moose Jaw.

But 80 kph enforced by speed cameras? C’mon just eliminate the at-grade intersections already.
