What a win against Tsitsipas... in 2 sets of 7-5, 6-2.

FAA plays against Feliciano Lopez (who beat Raonic) in the semis.

Felix loses in 3 hard fought sets.

Excited to see what he's capable of at Wimbledon.

After all...
Federer won his first slam at the age of 21 (Wimbledon 2003)
Djokovic won his first slam at the age of 20 (Australian Open 2008)
Nadal won his first slam at the age of 19 (French Open 2005)... he turned 19 during that tournament. Had he played Roland Garros in 2004 (apparently was injured), I have no doubt he would have won the tournament as a 17 years old kid. The guy is otherworldly on clay.

Felix is still 18...

FAA and Raonic are playing their 3rd round matches at Wimbledon tomorrow.

Good luck to both of them, I really want to see how Felix fares against Djokovic.

The teenager has to get better. Dominated by Humbert in a 3 straight set losses. These things shouldn't happen when you are seeded.

As for Raonic, dominating performance against a unidimensional opponent. But Pela took care of Anderson so his part of the draw is now completely up for grabs.

Canada's wins gold at beach volleyball worlds
The Canadian Press July 6 2019

HAMBURG — Canada's Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes are world beach volleyball champions.

The duo defeated Americans April Ross and Alexandra Klineman 2-0 (23-21, 23-21) to win Canada's first gold medal — and first world championship medal overall — in beach volleyball.

Pavan, from Kitchener, Ont., and Toronto's Humana-Paredes came into the competition ranked sixth in the world. The Americans were one spot ahead of them in fifth.

Pavan and Humana-Paredes edged Switzerland's Tanja Huberli and Nina Betschart 2-1 (23-21, 17-21, 19-17) in semifinal action on Friday.

The pair recorded Canada's previous best finish in beach volleyball world championship history when they finished fourth in Vienna in 2017.

The event has been held every two years since 1997.

Pavan was one of Canada's top indoor volleyball players when she switched to beach for the opportunity to play in the Olympics.

She made her Canadian senior indoor debut as a 16-year-old. The six-foot-five lefty starred at the University of Nebraska, winning the Honda-Broderick Cup as the NCAA's top female athlete — in any sport — in 2007. She led the Cornhuskers to a 33-1 season and an NCAA title while maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average in biochemistry.

At the national level, however, Canada hasn't had a women's indoor volleyball team in the Olympics since 1996.

Pavan made her beach volleyball Olympic debut at the Rio Games in 2016, finishing fifth with then-partner Heather Bansley.

Pavan and Humana-Paredes won gold together at the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

Humana-Paredes partnered with Taylor Pischke for a fourth-place finish at the last Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015.

Real Madrid are training at L'Impact's facility in Montreal these days.

It has something to do with a tournament called the Champions Cup they will be playing in stateside later this month.

The Champions Cup in and of itself is entirely a money grab but it's good to see Real spending a week in Montreal. Building their own training facility is certainly paying off for Impact.

Brooke Henderson wins an ESPY last night as the best female golfer. Her list of accomplishments continues to grow, including becoming the winningest Canadian professional golfer (of any gender) on major tours, of all time. And to have done all this at such a young age! 3 time Canadian Female Athlete of the year and career earnings of almost $6 million is not to shabby either!

15K tickets sold with the proceeds going to the Impact Foundation.

I caught the Real Madrid bus driving around Montreal last weekend with a full police escort. I was trying to do a mental calculation of the net worth of players on the bus.

Ok, I didn’t see you posted that comment yesterday. I think they used Saputo stadium just one day.

One of the very first Cricket clubs in what is now Canada was formed in neighbouring Carbonear back in 1833.

Two clubs were formed in Harbour Grace in 1864 and the game was played regularly over the next 40 years, with matches against other teams in Conception Bay North including Brigus, Carbonear and Bay Roberts.

Harbour Grace also produced Newfoundland’s greatest cricketer, John Shannon Munn who played at the highest levels of the game while attending Oxford in 1901 and 1902.

He later moved to St. John’s. His daughter Betty Munn died in the Florizel disaster in 1918.

It was kind of an anti-climatic way to break the streak for Canadians in the tournament. You never want to see someone get injured, especially in the finals.

Not to take it away from Andreescu though, she still had a hard road to the finals and had the most time on the court going into the match.
