I'm not a traffic planner but why in the world wouldn't you turn Spring and W. Peach into 2 way streets??? So commuters can go 60 MPH down a city road?

As I said, the Buford/Spring onramp is the real issue. Traffic headed to Buford Highway exits left from WPT, which would be against the flow of two-way traffic.
For easier fixes, are there even speed limit signs on West Peachtree? I can't recall. I know on Williams Street there is a 25mph speed limit posted, which is rather low for a street that has almost no pedestrian activity and mainly functions as an interstate collector road. Then, on West Peachtree, it's the freaking autobahn.
They really ought to bump the Williams Street speed limit to 35mph and lower West Peachtree and Spring to 25 mph. Properly sign them (speed limit signs every 2-3 blocks) then enforce them strictly. (Aside: that might be what the speed limit is, but I simply can't recall, which is probably a problem given I live in Midtown and walk/drive on them all the time.)
The time difference between driving the 1.6 miles of West Peachtree in Midtown at 25 mph and 35 mph is a whopping 60 seconds. (Not that most cars even go 35 at the moment; I see cars easily doing 50 all the time.)
