^ Wow. I'm liking that design a lot.

Unfortunately, I'm not expecting it to happen any time soon

Wow, they should name it "Lens Flare Tower."

Does anyone think this is even a real project? I haven't heard anything about it outside of this forum.

Is this the same construction method as 510 West Erie; first few floors concrete, with steel above? Why would they choose to build it this way?

Encasing the electrical service in concrete ( PVC in concrete ) - I think this was planned to serve as an access point to the site until the service was uncovered and then hung from these girders.

May 08
Filling in the space between the basement wall and the sheet piles.

Foam filled ramp.
Raw material

Laid down and trimmed - now the wire mesh is laid over.

Generous amount of concrete.

May 09
Wilkin Insulation Co ( the spray on stuff for the stell beams and columns ).

Trimming off the sheet pile ( SW ), the ramp poured the day before will allow trucks to pull through from Clark to Dearborn. The area being filled with concrete is in this path.

No way anything like this gets built at 64th. It would be great to see something like this in Hyde Park, but that's the wrong side of the Midway. At 56th St facing the museum would be a good spot...

In the background of that last pic (excellent photos to all btw) what is that tower with the green scaffolding? And what does that project involve? Is that just cleaning or are they repairing or what? Also, thats not the same Randolph tower that was getting treated last summer is it?

^ You answered your own question. Randolph Tower is undergoing extensive facade restoration work and replacement of terracotta, then cleaning. It's going to be a stunner when finished.

Still? I thought they did the other side last summer, but in that picture it still doesn't look like they've touched it? I remember seeing a picture on here about the finished treatment of another similar tower in that area of the Loop, was that different?
