Nice! I always found the overpass at 4:41 to be the sketchiest one in the province, this thing is downright scary!

Even more sketchy than the Autoroute Félix Leclerc West over to Henry-IV south, although this one should be replaced soon with the Henry-IV 6 lanes widening.

Merci!

I like that!

How did that ever get approved?! It doesn't look like it would be that hard to build a proper exit lane and to shift the ramp over to make it much safer. Do a lot of accidents happen at that location?

Im not exactly sure what to look at, are you referring to this little ramp?

https://www.google.com/maps/@45.9417263,...ro3b9P76lX7dB0w03qLMQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

I live pretty far from that area but I wouldn't be surprised if accidents happened there from time to time.

No. Go to about the 4:30 mark of the video and watch for 15 seconds or so. The exit lane is nearly nonexistent and unless you knew it was coming up that fast you'd probably miss it. The "ramp" looks totally misaligned to me. That part of the interchange if not the entire thing needs to be redone.

Alright gotcha, you have to consider that A15 was the first highway in Québec (and perhaps one of the oldest in Canada) and while many improvements and upgrades were made south, this particular segment is basically left untouched. And since it was the first highway segment built in rough terrain, there are many substandard displays like here!

So yes, many things need to be redone in that segment!

That reminds me of I-95 north of Bangor, Maine, where no interchange has exit or merge lane.

Interesting, I just took a look, fortunately the traffic seems pretty light.

I kinda like the substandardness of these older highways, just needs to be a little more vigilant..

I can't confirm that this is true but:

I've read that one of the sharp curves on the original segment of A-15 is there because of the premier Maurice Duplessis. Supposedly, he made sure that some of his friend's land was expropriated by having that curve meaning that the government would pay his friend a lot of money for it.

Duplessis was a long-lasting very right dictator-like premier whose government was very corrupt and favouring friends, family, the elite and those who were wealthy. So it wouldn't be surprising if the Autoroute 15 curve thing is true.

I've also read that the same autoroute has curves that were created to avoid properties of Duplessis' friends so who knows.

Yes I heard this story too. I've also being told that Duplessis is responsible for the missing section of the A40 bypass north of Trois-Rivières. Since he was from there and it was his electoral circonscription, he wanted the highway to go trough the city so the transit traffic would boost the local economy. The MTQ still owns all the land to eventually complete the highway.

Here's roughly the original planned A40 alignment in orange before Duplessis's evil mind had it his way:

A friend is touring Labrador this weekend. A few pictures from the border crossing along the Trans Labrador Highway.

It's funny how Quebec just has the one flag, but we have four - Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador, United Kingdom, and Labrador (it's their tricolour, their equivalent of Newfoundland's pink, white and green - not an official flag, but the one that is held closest to people's hearts).

It's a long highway for just 25K people.

*****

And a sneak peek at driving along the expansion of the Team Gushue Highway:

YOU DON'T KNOW THAT! He's right, though. I have no idea what the overall goal is, but every election season they pave another stretch. I think it may be paved most of the way from HVGB to the Straits.

I much prefer the Québec sign. Kind of sad that it has been shot at a few times.

The NL sign is pretty boring but fine. It should be bilingual because it's on the border with Quebec. The French text can be smaller. Also, having four flags is a bit much. It really only needs the provincial and Labradorian flags in my opinion. The Union Jack needs to go. Btw, I'm a Northern Ontarian who's not fond of having a provincial flag that has the Union Jack on it.

Back to that highway. I was in Labrador and that part of Quebec back in 2003. It was a different sign back then. I'm hoping to drive the Trans-Labrador highway within the next 5 years. I'm amazed at how much of it has been paved.

You may want to brush up on your NL history.
