SLC looking to build $32 million fleet-maintenance facility - propose to relocate facility from current location of 800 South and 300 West to 1954 W. and 500 South

http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,700264915,00.html

...According to a city staff report, the new facility would further the city's sustainability goals by allowing for a new compressed natural gas fueling station. The two buildings also would be constructed to the silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standard, as per city ordinance.

In addition, the new facility would allow for redevelopment of the current fleet site, which is located in a city RDA zone.

"I think it gives us a great opportunity to change our city (near 800 South and 300 West)," Councilman Van Turner said.

Hey guys I found the " Official Mountain West NBA Thread " So lets keep the NBA talk in that thread.

Hey delts, that's great news about the $32 million fleet-maintenance facility. Let's hope it will bring new jobs to the area.

I totally agree. Palin is totally out of her league as far as being a the person who is second in line to lead this country. Personally, Palin was a desperate pick and the decision to have her as a VP candidate just was not thought through.

I do not care who anyone is for or votes for as that is their business but to me
the kind of change we need is a total refocus where we look at the USA and stop being the world's sheriff.

That would be great of course, in bringing more jobs to the area. I have to admit my main wish would be to see the old facility plot redeveloped into a more urban/residential friendly neighborhood in that area of 800 South and 300 West.

Palin scares the bejesus out of me too Comrade. And there is a 33% chance she will be president if McCain is elected, based on his physical prognosis. A yokel soccer mom who thinks the Earth is 7,000 years old for our president... It's about time I Emigrate to another country

Uncovering the Past

Until recently, just one of the original Civil War-era buildings at Fort Douglas was believed to have survived the various expansions and demolitions at the fort—Building 55, a small adobe house located at the south end of the Peterson Heritage Center. But now, a portion of a second Civil War-era building has been discovered inside a house located at 604 South Fort Douglas Boulevard (across the street from the Guest House).

I think Obama is too inexperienced to be president, am appalled that Dems once again nominated an inferior candidate and will be writing in Hillary Clinton's name on the ballot since my vote won't really matter in Utah anyway. And I want to send a msg to the Democratic party that I don't support Obama. With that said, I hope Obama wins as he's the lesser of two evils.

My personal favs were Condi and Romney..... I'd have picked someone else besides Palin but I highly doubt that MCain's gonna keel over during his term, so Sarah's going to be perfectly qualified to be VP since the VP pretty much does nothing, in reality. All she's gotta do is stand next to the president and look pretty, which she can do just fine. Wait. I just ha a great Idea.....

ROMNEY/RICE 2012!

OK ENOUGH POLITICS! hehe

Now let's talk SALT LAKE......

I loathe politics. It so often feels like chosing your own executioner.
Still, its a necessary evil. And I'll chose Obama a thousand times over McCain and his Pit Bull.

Please keep the political discussions in the skybar-current events-U S elections portion of this forum.

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=334

Also, on a side note, since I have become a moderator I have had a handful of people that have PMed me from SSP forums congratulating me on my promotion, and hoping that I will bring change to the SLC forums.

They mentioned to me their unpleasant experiences posting in our SLC forums. Once again these were people who posted their opinions or comments about something in our city, and were treated very harsh for sharing their opinions. Well, I know that you may not agree with everyones opinion on this forum, but please act and treat fellow forumers with respect. I know that I am starting to sound like a broken record, and I apologize.

I bring this to your attention because with all the new memberships on this forum that we are getting lately, more and more opinions are being put on these boards. And to keep order we need to be mindful, and not let others opinions eat us alive.

Also, we are all friends on this forum and love its content about skyscrapers, I do not look forward to the day that I, or another moderator have to step in and revoke someones rights to this forum.

As most of you know there are times that this forum experiences large amounts of traffic and prevents people from accessing the forum until the traffic level goes down. Please be mindful of your bandwidth use by keeping on subject of skyscrapers and associated development.

As always thanks for your time,

-Viperlord

I'm gonna keep talking about it here since I was banned from that forum years ago.

Ok, I won't, but I will say this:

It doesn't even really matter. McCain is toast and Palin will ride off into the Alaskan sunset, becoming a 2008 version of Dan Quayle.

And thank God for that!

I'm sure there are more people on this area forum that feel even more dread about an Obama/Biden ticket. I myself would have felt allot more hope with a McCain-Biden/Biden-McCain, or a Clinton/McCain ticket. Unfortunately, the result of the current polarizing political situation is you get two camps full of people on the left and right, who would vote only democrat/republican, even if hitler or mahmoud ahmadinenutjob were on their respective party's ticket.

Anyway, I appologize for my brief rant, and now continue on to a more appropriate subject for this thread.

Future Mayor, I was curious in looking back on this, your past post of 222 So. Main, if you had a feel for the breakdown of the Key Tower in Cleveland. For example, what percentage of it's occupancy is for Key itself, any residential condo, law firms, etc.

It's amazing what you can charge when Class A occupancy in the CBD is 90-95%. With those lease rates and already 33.33% leased its a shame they didn't go 5 or 10 stories taller.

The key tower, which is one of my favorite buildings in DT Cleveland only gets $28-$30 sq ft, however Class A occupancy is only around 80% in Cleveland.

Key Tower 57 floors

I wouldn't be so sure delts. Urban centers tend to vote democrat. My theory to explain this is: urban centers are dense and are designed to maximize on human interactions, therefore people interact more with each other. When people get to know one another, there is less prejudice and less bigotry. Since Democrats are more progressive on social issues than Republicans, people who live in urban centers and interact with people who are different from them on a daily basis tend to agree more with democrats on social issues. People on this forum are interested in urban centers, therefore I would guess the majority on here would favor an Obama/Biden ticket.
