Edit to add answer to my own question. We average just under 11 million cars per year. So just to manufacture this magic bullet traffic stopper we are going to need 15-20 years of nonstop manufacturing.

sorry to disappoint, i have no idea who wrote the study, its just common sense. its happening as we speak. we have bills going forward in the US Congress on this. It will occur. People are not going to give up their cars. now, we can do this, or we can only allow rich people to have cars. the rest of us will get packed into trains crammed with 200 people LOL. maybe I'll get a job as a pusher!
Bottom line, this prop A is a bunch of money, and I've lost faith in our city council. don't trust them with the money, and many people who I know dont either, regardless of political affiliation. anyway that is a topic for another thread.
if we really want to expand public transit, then I say make the BRT better. It sucks, but could be so much better. for far less money.
