Still have to go through all the hoops (PAC as well as 2nd and 3rd reading etc), but, barring any nearby tomato plants, I suspect activity later this summer.

The vibe around this seems very much like the Three Sisters. With the Lafford development, they were doing some earth moving even before final approval. I think this might happen here too.

If you look at the render, it appears that the building may be called "Infinity".

All comes down to how it meets Main Street to me. If we get another Ashford type of disaster found on Highfield with brick/stone wall facing the street then this should be rejected. If retail on Main Street with glazing then huge thumbs up.

I was reading under recommendations the city is mentioned doing similar to the corner of Main and Vaughn Harvey and adding in flexibility so that the developer can be approved for any size build on the property as long as it doesn’t go below 6 floors.

Looking at this Rendering the tallest part of this develment sits on the Main Street side. This will be impressive on a curbside appeal perspective.

Any comments on what hurdles remain to be cleared and when they want to break ground?

Would be nice to have some set backs so not so bulky and to cut back on the winds. BTW, do we have shadow rules in Moncton, not that it would apply in this situation!

At 30 stories depending on how big the floors are this could be close to 100 m building

If this gets approved it will be a huge momentum boost for the city, a real statement. Now imagine St Bernard at 20 stories + the downing Street project buildings!

Love the white and blue accent lighting! This will be visible across the city! And what a statement entering downtown from the East.

The tower section is right up on Main with street front retail and the materials seem alright. I’ve got high hopes this will be a great looking building.

This is the type of statement project I expected Aquilini to build across from Avenir.

We may still be largely off the radar of large national developers like Aquilini. But with a few more of these types of projects, that will change.

Mayor Dawn Arnold has just posted about this on Facebook.

288 residential units in the building. Overall not as many as the Three Sisters (450 units), but twice as tall.

I will make a new thread for this building, but not before the PAC documents are available to view.

There's still time to rename it to Kurrgan Tower.

----

Life-sized Robert Maillet monument added to Moncton skyline
March 2, 2016

https://themanatee.net/life-sized-ro...ncton-skyline/

Quote:
An earlier plan called for a high-rise with luxury condos, tentatively named “Kurrgan Tower,” but city planners realized that with more people leaving the province, it would be cheaper and more sustainable to set up a 1:1 scale replica of Robert Maillet in downtown Moncton.

----

Jokes aside, if population growth stalls and new projects stop, the city skyline will look even more disjointed than it is now because there are wide gaps.
