I love the elegant shape of Telus Sky but somthing about the slate-like cladding looks very 2008.
Can't decide whether a glassy black or white shadow box finish would have looked better.

Me too. I prefer Vancouver House's cladding over this. Both have cool perspectives. Both have awkward perspectives. I like Vancouver House's gravity defining massing over Telus Sky's more conventional massing too. They are not deserving of perfection. They are solid, unique buildings deserving of all the attention they do get.

Montreal is gangbusters while other markets are cooling. I wouldn't be surprised if BIG/Allied/Westbank have already something mocked up

Montreal would be an interesting market for Ingels as I see Habitat '67 being a major influence in his work.

So, for King Street, Mr. Ingels delivered similar terraced condos that climb to several peaks, none greater than 20 storeys, with trees on numerous balconies, like a forest. The new building was a stark contrast to the brick below. A courtyard would allow people to move easily through the site.

But as far as I know, Westbank is not active in Montreal. But who knows?

Westbank gets the publicity with being the developer of the condos. Allied Reit owns in Montreal and is actively expanding their Montreal portfolio. They owned the King West site and brought in Westbank as a partner to develop the residential. I see no reason Westbank wouldn't partner with Allied in Montreal. The numbers are good and climbing.

Housing starts (by unit count) are down but the time to construct a building is increasing due to larger project size.

That means there are more simultaneous units under construction despite a lower pace of sales. It would take several years of lower starts before the effect was visible to those counting cranes.

So urbantoronto is saying that YSL is under construction. Our diagram page also shows this. Is it? And if so it needs to go in at #2 and 299m or 981ft.
