You and Molson are a bit older than me I suspect. I'm at the beginning of the Millennials.
Capri-stang is funny.

Molson, he's still performing at 71! This video is almost like an NFB mini doc with the voiceover heheh

I'm solidly Gen X (late 1970 birth). I appreciate the 70s rock, and both the bad and good of the 1980s. Plus the early '90s grunge.

(PS: Gino has traded the flowing locks for an "up-do".... ugh but good on him for still being a performer!)

And yes in southern Ontario we called those guys "Ginos" as well. They went from driving I-ROCs in the 80s/90s to more like their Jersey Shore brethren over time.
Which is unfortunate because Montréaler, Gino Vannelli is the greatest Gino of all. I still love "Wild Horses" as tacky as that 80s song may be to others (I was a child when it played on the radio, originally)
I still love Wild Horses and my son likes it too. Makes me nostalgic and happy. The rest of his stuff seems meh though I’m not overly familiar with it. Had no idea Gino was from Montreal (and he’s a double Gino!)

You guys can have Gen X to yourselves or share the tail end with O-tacular.

O-tacular, he's Gino². Still has a good voice.

I'm glad to hear that you can show your boys any music you like to see if they also enjoy it. I know your eldest is a wild child and listens to Rammstein

I graduated high school in...1987!! My son will be attending university next fall. I am technically 11.5 years away from retirement. I haven't been called an "old fart" yet, but its in the mail.

My kids used to love my music (I am really into music from 1965-1985, which is 95% of my collection...and it is a big one at that). As they became teenagers, however, they went on to other things. I haven't a clue what they listen to as they only listen to music on their headphones (unlike me, when I was that age.,,,I had a massive stereo system, with 500 watts/channel speakers x 4, two turn tables, a CD rack system, double cassette, big assed amplifier, equalizers, etc....my neighbours 4 blocks away knew what I listened to!)

The area in question from above:

Had an appointment yesterday and saw this soviet cluster from a different angle up close. Some real Hong Kong / mega city vibes going on in that canyon of apartments:

I don’t identify necessarily as Xennial it was just something I read about where there’s a potential micro generation that we would fit into.

I played Wild Horses for my son before bed last night and he freaked me out by saying “He’s from Montreal”, just after we had that chat here. I never read it out loud so there’s either a glitch in the Matrix or he’s psychic.

If Gino was stranded on a desert island like Tom Hanks, he would become a sasquatch.

I'm one of those guys. My chest isn't as hairy as Gino's though. I rock the 5 o'clock shadow almost immediately after shaving.

Isn't it possible that he actually is a sasquatch?

Same here. The 1980s were the pinnacle of rock/pop. But, by George, Vanilli was hirsute! Cut those locks, man! Button up your shirt! No woman wants to bed a gorilla.

They certainly did, back in the day. Chest hair was always on display. Times were much simpler before manscaping became a thing. It's surprising that Vanelli didn't have the moustache back then.

He's in full ItaliAfro mode here at 26-27 years old in 1978!
I didn't know this was his song. He has more famous songs than I realized.
(Gotta admit at 71 in 2023 his voice still sounds pretty damn good)

Sasquatch. lol

I've gotta admit that when the chest hair went grey it was more traumatic than the experience of the follicles on my scalp and face producing less colour. For Gino it must have been terrifying (I didn't have the luscious black locks... red to brown to grey, or "Arctic Blonde" as one hair styling professional graciously put it)

The eyebrows are my last line of defence. When they go, it's over.
