Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

Boise's done it right with all of the greenery along the streets and huge parks downtown. What is the largest park in the city?

Ann Morrison is the largest city park at 153 Acres. There are reserves in the Foothills/Boise National Forest, that are over 1000 acres and Stack Rock is one, which are city parks properties.

I pulled up the city website and a quick calculation of city parks in downtown, adjacent to downtown and within a 5 minute bike ride from 8th Street in the heart of downtown, brings the total to nearly 360 acres of city parks in the downtown area.
There are also the tree lined creeks/reserves/parks in the gulches that are within 5 minutes ride from downtown in the Foothills, such as Military Reserve (734 acres) and Hulls Gulch (292 acres). Including these two reserves, the total park acreage within a 5 minutes bike ride from the Capitol is nearly 1400 acres.
Hundreds more acres of city parks are in the rest of the city. #CityofParks

the nice thing about Boise's parks are that so many are right along the river.

when people come to visit i often recommend they rent a couple of bikes and spend the day on the greenbelt, which connects many of the parks. you can go from Kristen Armstrong to Julie Davis to Ann Morrison to Kathryn Albertson to Esther Simplot to Veteran's Memorial parks one right after the other along the greenbelt. and there are others further out from downtown but still along the river, as well (like Marrianne Williams, Barber Park, and Baggley Park).

they can also quickly access multiple restaurants, microbreweries, and the green acres food truck park for a bite to eat. good times.

Willow Lane Park to the bridge that enters Garden City is also a great stretch.

I haven't been on the Greenbelt beyond Glenwood for a while, but I think there is a new pedestrian/bike bridge over the river in Eagle that connects the Greenbelt to their belt along the river west of Eagle Road. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Bown Crossing is convenient for a few beers when cycling between Lucky Peak and downtown.

Telaya Wines tasting room on the Greenbelt on the GC side is amazing and dog friendly.

Impressive! You are so fortunate to have such large lush parks and the river as amenities for your downtown.
