Honestly, no company has two HQ's. Amazon needs to go sell crazy somewhere else because we are all stocked up on the crazies in Atlanta, GA!

It appears Cousins will also be developing the 3rd & Ponce parcel (in addition to their recently proposed 500' tower on WP) based on the inferences made in the Bisnow article. Nobody wants to go on record in the REIT industry, but lots of wink-wink, nudge-nudge happens. Where there is smoke...
1125 is going to have a law firm tenant. 8th and Peachtree seems to be a speculative office tower. If Amazon chooses Atlanta, it'll definitely be the area near the AT&T tower.

I suspect they will choose the AT&T Midtown Tower area and the Gulch. Amazon has 30 offices in Seattle and they are not necessary concentrated in one area.

I wasn't saying that Amazon was going to go into either of those buildings, but if you have inside information about where Amazon is going to setup a second HQ, then you know that suddenly Class-A office space in and around that area is going to be in extremely high demand and construction costs in the area will go up significantly, such that, you would fast track projects you have been sitting on for a few years (which is exactly what 1125 is). As this is not just an Amazon but it will be snowball effect for other smaller tech companies to be in the area around HQ2. Once NCR announced, we've had dozens of tech companies move in the general vicinity. I can only imagine what a HQ2 would do. If I'm a logistics, software, IoT, etc company and have the opportunity to be a mile away from Amazon's second HQ...It's worth it.

I think this will rival if not overtake the excitement Atlanta had landing the Olympics.

It would just be a HUGE, monumental turning point for the city in so many ways.

Atlanta would automatically make international news.

I'm getting word (more opinion perhaps than actual knowledge) that Atlanta is out of the running. Anyone hearing the same?

No, at least not from any reliable source.

I've been hemming and hawing about it myself over the past couple months. But after the recent reports came out about Amazon being really tax sensitive and their concerns about housing affordability, I'm almost 100% confident it's going to be Atlanta.

Not to mention Amazon didn't stop selling guns after the school shooting and GA's Delta tax/NRA debacle. I think Amazon is a little more Conservative than they lead on.

I am 100% sure it is Atlanta's to lose.

I doubt BOS would land HQ2. That 2k-4K job announcement seemed like it was Amazon's consolation prize to BOS for playing.

BOS would struggle to address housing, it doesn't build enough now and never has, so that won't be any different when Amazon comes knocking. BOS is also expensive and becoming more expensive faster than any other HQ2 finalist city except LA. I think ship sailed on BOS...

On top of that, they don't call it Taxachusetts for nothing.

DC is more plausible of the two, but housing affordability would still be an issue there.

Not HQ2, but it's something...

Amazon eyes new Atlanta fulfillment center

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2018/05/11/amazon-eyes-new-atlanta-fulfillment-center.html

Quote:
Amazon.com is working on a site for a $75 million-to-$100 million multi-story fulfillment center — its latest metro Atlanta project, according to sources familiar with the plans.

Amazon began floating the concept toward the end of 2017 and continued to pitch the idea earlier this year as it looked for land.

It’s not confirmed where the project may end up, or if Amazon is close to picking a developer.

Last month, engineering firm Eberly & Associates submitted plans to the state on behalf of an unidentified user for a four-story distribution center in Gwinnett County.

Plans suggested whatever user occupies the 640,000-square-foot building could employ up to 1,800.

The project would cover about 92 acres along West Park Place Boulevard, just northeast of Stone Mountain Park. It could be completed in about two years, according to the filing.
